“My message to the community of folks who want to visit Nashville is, ‘Come to Nashville,’” Barry told WKRN. “We are a warm and welcoming place, and we really don’t want to the city to be punished for things the state may do. So, we encourage people to still consider [coming] to Nashville.”
Sometimes the good people suffer because of the actions of the bad people. Perhaps your time should be devoted to denouncing the bad people in your state. You seem to be more concerned with the money.
Southern Jesus: Money is meaningless if it’s not built upon bigotry.
Mayor - Your state ranks amongst the 5 lowest in voter turnout. Perhaps you should encourage the “good people” to vote.
If the “good people” had gotten off their collective asses to vote, the legislative outcome might, just might, have been different.
I know people see your congressional spokesperson a lot,and she alone isn’t helping your state IMO,I guess with the stupidity that she displays on issues and tourist fear that stupidity may be in the Tennessee air and they don’t want to catch that bug,is another reason .
But God is on your side, lady! And since he will not be mocked, he will definitely pay your bills, so don’t give in!
that only applies in Oklahoma…
Courage doesn’t require a budget reconciliation Mayor Barry.
If her honor had campaigned against the legislation-- prior to seeing the numbers drop?
Her case could be made honestly.
Now? It’s a lose-lose. She’s just drawing more negative PR to the state and Nashville.

The state legislature who passes these laws love to empathize how pro-business and local control they are. Well now it comes back to bite them.
Until the backlash over hate-based legislation from southern states impacts and endangers their sports culture, it could be a long, slow draining of commerce from those states will be necessary to impact the legislatures enough to change those laws. Find a way to negatively impact sports events in those states and see them welcome everyone and their pet animals to use their public bathrooms. You just have to hit them where they live.
Didn’t hear you mention how you blame the legislature for not heeding your warning when you testified against the bill while it was being adopted. You did testify against it, didn’t you?
States like TN, NC and MS demonstrate why we need national rights legislation for the LGBT community.
No thanks, Lady. Get your house in order and everyone decent will come back. This is all on you.
I take it the good mayor is a Democrat. The word “revenue” would never pass the lips of any Republican in government. But how about calling out the thoroughly heartless and crass legislation for what it does to the LGBT community for its needless effort to further marginalize and discriminate against many of your citizens?
gop can’t govern
Lady,
How about passing a city law that counters the State law, demonstrating local control and sanity?
Cut to the chase: turnout was 29.1%, 1,400,000 people, but no state has bragging rights for 2014. Nationwide it was 36.3%, the worst in 72 years. Neither party wants to address it and I’m hoping the Rs never do.
@srfromgr She is a Democrat, originally from California who performed the first same-sex wedding in 2015. Clearly she has no future in the TN repub party.
Note to Mayor: We will visit when you change your discriminatory laws. In the meantime, talk to your biased state legislators.
Understood.
Does Nashville understand we really don’t want our taxes benefiting crazy state legislators?
Well God is punishing NC
