Discussion: Tempers Flare Over Trump During 'Fox' Focus Group

Discussion for article #239054

So, the takeaway here is that Trump isn’t part of the Faux machine, and now Faux is trying to steer the narrative back on track?

Fox is Frankenstein, Trump is the Monster. The difference is that when the Monster threw the little girl (McCain) in the pond, many of the villagers either looked the other way or cheered him on.

Don’t you wonder how Luntz and company screen for these focus groups? I guarantee you, there are criteria that Faux News (Luntz’s employer) is not sharing with their audience, much like they’re not sharing who gets in to their Faux Fantasy Debate until the 11th hour.

And come on now…tRump is “a live sitcom” as much as Carson, the Huckster, and Carnival Cruz are, in almost equal amounts…except they haven’t been able to get a word in edgewise since tRump’s PR campaign has worked out more to his benefit in recent weeks.

Sorry sheeple…your brain-dead party built that. Enjoy your mess…I know I will.

The desperation of the FAUX Machine to derail The Trumpster is in full view now.
They hand pick a group to attack Trump and sprinkle in just enough Trump supporters to spice it all up for the knuckle-draggers watching on FAUX News.
That paragon of virtue: Frank Luntz loved it because he did what he was paid to do. Smear Trump.

What this showed me was that the Republican Presidential Primary has devolved into “The Jerry Springer Show”.
That is why Trump is so popular. He fits right in.

THIS. It’s precisely this kind of hectoring TV-level argument between core Fox viewers that is happening all across the Republican party as the base shatters from the centrifugal force of 17 candidates each saying and doing contradictorily outrageous things.

This is why the GOP is going to lose in '16. They know it. Trump is simply bringing the fractures into play earlier, louder, and more visibly.

And they seem to want to make that perfectly clear by putting on their Faux-approved focus group in case anyone missed the message. Propaganda is a tricky thing. Sometimes you have to double back to make sure you’ve covered all your bases, and reinforced the narrative you hoped to achieve. I think they must have let this one get away from them somehow. Imagine that. Someone pulled out a trump card and stole the pot.

I’d rather not lose my lunch by watching rwnj discuss Donald Trump’s ability to walk on water.
And comparing Trump to Reagan is stupid considering (and I am no Reagan supporter) Reagan paid his political dues and learned how to be a politician and how to operate in office before he ever ran for President. Reagan was governor of California and had done a lot of work with other politicians before that office. His interest in politics began in the late 1950’s fully 20 years before he attained the Presidency. Trump? What office has he held? Beyond shutting down the government to defund PP what policies has he announced? What a silly comparison that lady made.

Faux wants a candidate who can be bought. Trump can’t be bought and could pay for his own run…he’s made that boast himself several times now, and such a candidate is anathema to the plutocracy it is Faux’s mission to further. Also too, he’s a loose cannon. The plutocrats want someone malleable and compliant, who is on the same page as they are and will follow “the plan.”

A Frank Luntz focus group on Fox is just the Universe’s way of thanking me for going without cable.

But they’re still hoping he dies out early, as they march their morons to whoever their preferred candidate ends up being. They never anticipated this self-funding Golem would be remain viable as long as he refused to leave their tightly orchestrated scam.

Gotta give it to The Donald for putting fear in the heart of the Republican Elite and their vegetative viewers.

BTW, if I don’t get Faux News, you think I’ll still be able to catch the master(de)baters on CSpan or some other venue?

What we have here; the focus group; is similar to of a bunch of people arguing about whether or not Shemp was as good a Stooge as Curly and which one of them was the smartest of the two.

I hear a lot of news people say Trump is popular because he says what “regular” people are afraid to say. If that is true, god help us.

Even more, Fox wants candidates that will spend a lot of money. Trump’s paying nothing and getting more screen time than the other candidate’s could ever dream of getting.

Of course they are. In fact, they’re panicking big-time. The base loves Trump. The more he inflames them, the less possible it will be for the Oligarchs to persuade them to vote in the general for some bland sociopath like Walker or Jeb.

This is beautiful. Like Yeats: “a terrible beauty is born.”

the lack of any concrete agreement or disagreement with trump in that focus group is fascinating. it really does seem to just be a rorschach test. “trump is a rich asshole” - we all agree. the only question is whether you think the country needs a rich asshole running it or not. apparently, a lot of republicans do believe that.

Fox knows that the base needs to go through all the crazy options before finally settling. Remember 2012?

Their problem is that Trump is more adept at this than Bachmann and Cain (and Gingrich, Santorum etc)

There isn’t time for 17 different 15 minutes…

You might be Frank Luntz if this is your idea of a successful focus group.
