Ted’s “not so excellent” adventure!

“We’ve quantified the personalities of every adult American,” Nix said. “We can reach out and target those different clusters with messages about the things they care about most, but that have been nuanced to resonate with their personality type.”

They haven’t “quantified” my personality, and they never will. And I believe there are enough fellow Americans out there that won’t succumb to these data mining tactics.

Cruz and his ilk are in for a rude awakening…

Ted Cruz Campaign wants access to your contact list. YUCK

Funny that your device asks you for permission to access your contacts list, but aw gee, no way to ask your contacts if they want your favored candidate to get their phone number. I expect there are going to be a lot more cell phones going off in meetings followed by somebody exclaiming “How the hell did they get my number?”.

I’ve been trying to get my phone number out of the DNC database for about a decade now. It’s good policy to avoid identity theft by never giving your credit card number over the phone unless you make the call, which makes fund raising calls kind of useless. But they call, local, state, Senate, House, and individual candidates.

Besides that, I’ve always thought it amusing when an app asks “permission”; I think it’s more like “Do you want me to access your personal information with your permission, or without your permission?”. For example, if the app “phones home” to deliver all the information it’s extracted from your phone, just the IP address alone will tell the data miners a lot; at least what part of the city you are in, maybe even the exact restaurant you’re in right now.

I was shocked when the first time I turned on my android tablet (a few years ago), it suggested links to Talking Points Memo and MSNBC – very specific, very revealing of my politics, and I think derived from my home IP address and the Google name server I sometimes use. I suspect it’s worse now. With these apps, there is no privacy. So now we’ll get fundraising calls that start “I know where you live, I know where you work, I know the car you drive, the businesses you frequent, and I know how much you can afford to give …”

The face of god can put its nose anywhere and everywhere.

The singularity is upon us, but there is still a phenomenon known as TMI. Most especially for the Cruz campaign. Proceed to overload.

This is some freaky shit the Cruz campaign is pulling with this app. Talk about no limits on invading your privacy. Whoa. Why the fuck does anyone need to know a person’s location from a campaign? And he gets free access to everything in your contacts list forever? I wouldn’t trust the “decline” function on that app at all. The man is a sleazy slimeball piece of shit. He wants all your data. Talk about Big Brother. I tell you…this guy is like fucking Nixon in so many ways. He scares me. No way should he get anywhere near the White House.

Not to sound like I’m occupying a wildlife refuge in the west, but this guy gives me a serious tyrannical vibe.
