Discussion: Ted Cruz's 2016 Ambitions Could Doom The New GOP Senate Majority

He shut down the government and I don’t see just any old average wimpy senator doing that.
That cost us at least $25 billion and it had no affect on him because, whether you can see it or not, he has power behind the scenes.
How much legislation is Jim Demint credited with?
Cruz stops good legislation dead in it’s track and that is where his power is. Putting his name on something would only hurt his Presidential aspirations because he would actually be showing where he stands instead of just playing bomb thrower boy.
I guess it’s how you define power that matters? I say he has too much.

I don’t think so. A poor or ho-hum showing by the GOP last Tuesday would have opened the door wide for candidates for the GOP 2016 POTUS nomination because there would’ve been a lot of finger-pointing and a big power struggle. Not so now. Establishment GOPs won the primaries and won last Tuesday. Dysfunction in Congress will continue for the next 2 years and the 2016 GOP POTUS nominee will be a Governor running to change Washington just like GWB did in 2000. The GOP has a deep bench of Governors. Rand Paul might run because it’s a family tradition and because the campaign infrastructure and money is already there but he won’t win. If the 2016 Dem POTUS candidate wins,Cruz’s career as a fly in the ointment might be revived. Otherwise,he’s already had as much power as he’ll ever have. He’s the Senate’s Michelle Bachmann. Rightwing radio is his future.

People have been complaining about the Senate for 150 years. Get a new schtick.

Is it truly determined McConnell will be the majority leader? Will he be challenged?

When is the rest of the world going to catch up to the fact that Cruz is a dangerous, possibly insane person? He is so far high up on Bullshit Mountain he is beyond rescue. I look forward to him fading away, like his idol, Joe McCarthy. What a repugnant, ugly soul he is. I sometimes feel a bit sorry for him, but then that feeling goes away. Lots of luck reining in this dipstick, Senator McConnell. Remember the old line about being careful what you wish for? I’m first in line to administer a nice fist in the face/kick in the ass to this jerk.

The Baggernuts got their base out and beat the Dems silly… BUT now they have to govern. And governing is harder than obstruction and having every member of the baggernut caucus running for President from the Senate and just about every GOTP Governor running too will make that well nigh impossible. Now the Dems need to give the Baggernuts some rope and then get the base out on all levels in 2016, 2018 AND 2020. Getting decent state legislatures in 2020 is the key to getting the House back. Keeping the white house will make that some easier, assuming the Dems learn from this whuppin’ and grow the bench some.

He doesn’t care about gaining power through legislation. Cruz is a full blown sociopath, who only cares about power for himself. The thing is, he has been instrumental in getting the insane teabags in the House to do such stupid things as shut the government down, and he has said he will do it again, and he will most certainly be screaming for impeachment for the next two years.

He was a small thorn in McChinless’s side as Minority Leader, but do not doubt for a minute that this insane man will not be an even bigger one now. He loathes McChinless, and does not want him to even be Majority Leader, and his new gal pal the teabag Ernst refused to say she would vote for him either, while Cruz did a whole lot to get her elected.

If you look at the new teabag Senators, they are pretty much all extremists, who acted like moderates to get elected, but whose legislative records in their states show the exact opposite. They will now be full blown teabag, now that they have 6 years and the threat of an even worse teabag opponent in their primaries 6 years from now. This is how they have all rolled, sound more moderate to get elected, and then let their full blown teabag crazy flag fly once they are elected, in fear of an even crazier primary opponent six years from now. They lie when they say that the teabags have not taken over their party.

I agree, Cruz is full out crazy, and not just a cunning political opportunist as so many erroneously believe. A little study into his bizarre Christian sect religious beliefs, proves just how insane both he and his communist father is. Those who say he either does not want to be President, or that he will seem less extreme if he does run needs to actually read what this cult of his espouses and believes, because it is as batshit crazy extreme as it gets. He believes that everything he does was ordained by “God” since his birth, and he is totally delusional.

People need to stop being deluded by his Harvard law degree, or his arguing before the Supreme Court, because sociopaths and psychopaths can seem totally normal, and even quite intelligent in their daily lives. It is what goes on in the darkest, deepest recesses of their brains that is scary and dangerous.

I can see that happening. DeMint’s hatred of the GOP is deep and wide. Cruz has been groomed to be the instrument of destruction for the Republican party as we know it…just a matter of when DeMint pulls the trigger.

The course of history ebbs and flows, and mid-terms almost always go against the president’s party.

But it is still undeniable that the demographics of the USA are shifting away from whites, and the GOP has alienated everyone else. Also, the demonstrably false scientific and economic philosophy of the GOP will eventually fall to reality.

I simply love circular firing squads! Ready! Aim! Fire!!!

Gee, the old turtle’s gittin a little long in the tooth, sure hope all that nasty pressure don’t cause him some catastrophic cerebral accident that leaves him completely paralyzed and speechless, but nonetheless leaves him completely conscious of the disaster he has worked so feverishly to bring upon this once great nation.

Cruz is a sociopathic malignant narcissist who has no loyalty to anyone except his dominionist fellow travelers. Anything bad happens to this guy, will be cause to celebrate.

The GOP has to decide if they want to go with the, “Sam Brownback of Kansas” experiment or to moderate and do what real people want and need and not what business wants. So far, the Brownback Kansas Experiment has sucked. Drastically lowered taxes with cuts to the rich and businesses, hasn’t brought in companies and good jobs (remember this is Kansas, companies are expected to flock to). But we did get credit downgrades and higher deficits and poorer education standards but, that’s what Kansas voters wanted. Brownback says it takes more time for his tea party conservative ideas to work. There’s just no reason the rest of the other states can’t be like we are here in Kansas!
