Its been in the works for awhile. Its a necessary step to get out of the way should he decide he wants to mount a presidential campaign. For Cruz, a Texas Senator with 4 more years till his re election, I doubt that the results, which are very cloudy at this point, from a VA district primary was much of a consideration.
Headline should read:
“Canada Rejoices!”

What nonsense…he doesn’t have to formally renounce his Canadian citizenship…the fact that he was born to an American suffices as far as US citizenship is concerned. It’s just grandstanding for the ignoramuses out there who know and understand nothing.
However - I don’t believe anyone can just decide to ‘be an American’ I say this as a New Zealander living in the US for more than 20 years…a person can ape an American accent and claim to love Cheeseburgers but even with a Yank passport an Indian is still an Indian, Andrew Sullivan is still English, Justin Bieber is still Canadian and Rupert Murdoch is still an Aussie.
