Discussion: Ted Cruz References SNL Skit On Executive Orders To Bash Obama (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #230478

So what bill is Sen Cruz referring to? There is no bill. That’s the fucking point and the rubes are too stupid to get that.

“This is not a Congress who wants to work with the President. Rather this is a Congress who is openly defying the President, besides Cruz is bat shit crazy” Obama said of Cruz.

The skit was a LIE, there has been NO bill passed by the House and sent to the Senate. SNL is so far off base.

What President Obama should do with the first bill that the new Congress sends him (That’s if they actually do their jobs and pass a bill.) is talk for 21 hours then veto it.

"

Cruz called Obama’s claim that other presidents had used executive
authority to delay deportations “frivolous.” Cruz said that Obama’s
order may have been acceptable if he was already working with Congress
to address immigration issues."

"As the nation’s attention turns back to the fractured debate over
immigration, it might be helpful to remember that in 1986, Ronald Reagan
signed a sweeping immigration reform bill into law. It was sold as a
crackdown: There would be tighter security at the Mexican border, and
employers would face strict penalties for hiring undocumented workers. But
the bill also made any immigrant who’d entered the country before 1982
eligible for amnesty — a word not usually associated with the father of
modern conservatism. "

SNL did not show what happens when a bill passes in the Senate but stalls in the House of Representatives. Shame on SNL

Thing is, Ted’s admirers don’t know or care what the facts are. It’s the emotional content of what he says that matters:

The press knows very well that a bill DID pass in the Senate and that John Boehner REFUSED to allow a vote in the House.

Yet the media continues to allow Repubs to sit there and say that Obama won’t work with them and goes around them.

That’s nothing more than the 4th estate not doing their jobs.

Well, hell, the typical SNL skit beats Cruz in intelligence, wit, and knowledge every time.

Cruz to Nowhere continues.

Cruz, like other conservatives, simply does not understand the concepts of irony, sarcasm, and satire. He obviously actually believes that SNL skits are documentaries.

chrissie wallace allowed Cruz to hold forth ad adnauseum to explain how his argument is rooted in the Federalist Papers, Constitution, Magna Carta, Dead Sea Scrolls, and right there on the Rosetta Stone itself. However, and this is surprising, he had no time or patience for a rebuttal by the Democratic congressman who came on afterwards.

“…This is not a president who wants to work with Congress…”

But you’re on vacation.

Again.

and I hope to be a law someday…if only John Boehner would allow the vote on what the Senate put on his desk so long ago…

What a stupid show SNL has become.

Umm. they are comedians…not pundits…who are, btw, mostly off base or pushing false narratives…there is a Senate bill waiting for our spineless speaker to continue to ignore…

he also undermines his own point with his frivolous non-answer about how if Obama was “working with Congress” a constitutionally meaningless idea, then this huge tyranny would be just fine.

Wait.

Cruz said that Obama’s order may have been acceptable if he was already working with Congress to address immigration issues.

?

Either it’s against the constitution and illegal or it’s not. “Working with Congress” doesn’t sanctify an illegal act.

Cruz is full of crap.

I seriously question teddy’s loyalty to our Nation…He is doing everything in his power to hurt OUR country…He is a tool of the fake christians in pursuit of their vision for OUR country…It is out in the open for all to see and to fear…
