Why are pundits/talking heads acting as if this is some kind of surprise or upset? Teabag Ted has won in Teabag Central. Wow – color me shocked,
What’s amazing is that, in spite of all that Brownback hath wrought, there is still a hard core of Kansas voters who are dumber than dirt.
Well, partly it’s that he’s winning by a huge margin, they’re saying over at 538. That wasn’t expected. But also it gives them something to talk about—got to have your “narrative” going on. They’re also wondering if Carson’s people are breaking primarily for Cruz. It would make sense but they’re being cautious.
Yes.
It’s a bit like Johnny Carson’s line about how there’s one good thing about mudslides in California - at least they put out the wildfires.
I would also argue that some soils (even in Kansas), with its rich humus and assorted minerals vital for nutritious foods, is smarter than a good number of the GOP voters in Kansas.
Trump doesn’t bother me in a general election, Cruz bothers me a lot.
I’m not sure I could handle the anxiety of the possibility of a Cruz presidency between then and November.
Well, they ran Nixon and Dewey on the rebound. The Democrats haven’t done that since the William Jennings Bryan trifecta, which goes back well over a century or so.
"If Donald Trump is the nominee, we lose to Hillary Clinton, we lose the Senate, we lose the Supreme Court for a generation," Cruz told the crowd.
I don’t have a problem with those consequences.
Fun zayn moyl, in Gots oyer.
Makes me shudder…
Discussion: Ted Cruz Projected Winner Of Kansas GOP Primary DO NOT PUB
Kudos to the brave rebel who published this news in the face of explicit instructions not to. Information wants to be free!
Yes, but they have a particular animus towards their “losers”. Democrats don’t despise Kerry, Gore, Dukakis, or Carter. In fact, we hold them in high regard.
In other words, the story was written before everyone left for the weekend, with just the numbers blank for an intern to fill in.
One of the best reads on what has been going on regarding Drumpf was this piece over at Vox:
The rise of American authoritarianism
Don’t let the headline’s seeming hyperbole throw you. It really is a must read about understanding the Drumpf rise.
Cruz as the GOP Nominee will probably not get AS MANY OF these kinds of people that Trump could get
-
People smitten with celebrity
-
People wanting someone outside of being an actual “politician”
-
People who fancy themselves as “mavericks”
-
People who are “new voters”
-
People who are HIGHLY comfortable with authoritarianism
-
People who are out-and-out racists (David Duke and THEN SOME)
-
People who wish to associate with millionaires (which TO THEM is related to voting for Trump)
-
People who are dissatisfied with the Democratic Party who chose “door # 2” (door #1 being Bernie)
AND MORE
I don’t think you can overstate the importance of this one, E. Also people who are extremely credulous, the ones who click on the “one weird trick” ads and so forth.
Check, Matt…
In fact, that fecklessness in people constitutes far more of my fear of a Trump’s candidacy than anything else
Cruz leading significantly in Maine, too, and that was by no means expected. Hat tip 538. If it turns out that Cruz has big fun on the bayou too it will stick in Trumpie’s craw most uncomfortably. Heh.
