Discussion: Ted Cruz: Police Would Not Be 'Targeting Muslims'

What the hell sort of behavior in a predominately Muslim neighborhood would constitute “radical Islamic terrorism”? There is radical Islamic terrorism being practiced in these neighborhoods that local police are NOT addressing? Or the terrorism is undetected because of insufficient police presence? And if Muslims are “getting away with” practicing radical Islamic terrorism because of insufficient police patrols and intelligence monitoring what form does it take when they employ it? Cruz is saying the U.S. is fostering radical Islamic terrorism by not preempting it. Are there terrorist acts being perpetrated because of our alleged inattention to radical Islamic terrorism in these neighborhoods?
Cruz is daft. Craven. Mentally unbalanced.

"In response, Cruz told O’Reilly that “we should use law enforcement to prevent radicalization and target radical Islamic terrorism.”

And that’s what LEO’s are doing now so nothing new here.

This garbage flies with his insane, hateful base but the rest of the country pushes back on it because we see it for what it is.

Aaaand Ted gets his name in the news for another day with his intentionally inflammatory and clearly unconstitutional and impractical suggestion. He knows perfectly well that jihadists could simply do their radical stuff inside the house with their shades drawn. They could even go and live in neighborhoods that aren’t predominantly Muslim, the slybootses! Ted knows that. But his idiot followers don’t.

Anyway, good morning, everyone. It’s another day in America. Some of us, I assume, are good people. : )

There you have it- a radical Christian trying to backpedal from his illogical rantings about radical Islam. Tell me again how UntrusTed should be allowed anywhere near the presidency.

“I’m talking about any area where there is a higher incidence of radical Islamic terrorism,” Cruz said in response.

Joseph McCarthy is in hell, applauding his protege.

It’s a completely juvenile understanding of the situation and proof that Ted has absolutely no situational awareness of how these people operate. It’s the same understanding our Rush Limbaugh-listening uncles have in how they perceive non-WASP culture.

They’re doing ISIS graffiti and wearing ISIS hoodies and talking Islamic jive out in the streets!

He’s really that clueless.

Well first tell us if you see a lower incidence of radical Islamic terrorism anywhere so that we’ll be able to tell it apart from, you know, higher. Wouldn’t want to go in guns blazing if its small potatoes.

riiiiiight send a bunch of cops to “patrol” Muslim neighborhoods like overseers on a slave plantation. Let me know how that works out in terms of building bridges with the Muslim community, because a heavy police presence works sooooo well in Black and Latino neighborhoods in terms of building trust between cops and the communities they harass

Conservative privilege = the ability to say the most batshit insane things and still be a candidate for POTUS! SMH! Conservative mediocrity is going to be the death of this country

Back in the day I knew kids that would blow up rural mailboxes with large firecrackers. If a Muslim wanted to be a pain in the ass and did that today out in the suburbs (you know, away from the home turf of his “Muslim neighborhood”) would that be radical Islamic terrorism? Radical Islamic vandalism? If a Muslim cheats on a college exam is it radical Islamic academic fraud?

Hope you’re right. I’ve been thinking he’s a lying weasel who doesn’t care about what is true and is governed entirely by opportunism with no conern for his country or his neighbors.

Once Cruz institutes this mosques better caution the youth in their flock that shoplifting and jaywalking now means you might get gunned down by police. Oh, signal your lane changes and replace those burned out license plate lights also. Failure to do either will also get you killed. That’s the trade-off you have to accept if you want the security that increased police presence brings to your radical Islamic neighborhood.

If only we could catch them building suicide bomb vests under the corner streetlights.

TPM:

“That does not mean targeting Muslims, it means targeting radical Islamic terrorism,” Cruz told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in a phone interview when asked what he meant by calling for the patrols.

Earlier in the day, Cruz had released a statement calling for “law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized.”

We’re not targeting Muslims, we’re targeting radical Muslim pre-thought pre-crimes! And their neighborhoods!

Let me get this right, the police will patrol Muslim neighborhoods but it doesn’t mean that Muslims are targets?

What, the cop will be patrolling to protect them?

His campaign later clarified that his plan calls for “visible law enforcement presence that will both identify problem spots and partner with non-radical Americans who want to protect their homes.”

Cruz should run for president of Cuba, they are all OK with securing neighborhoods, and they will have a vacancy soon. And he is as Cuban as he is American. (well unless his mother was “monogamously challenged”, which would be fitting seeing the huge SOB that Cruz turned out to be) .
