Discussion for article #233009
Ummmm…
We’ve been saying this for 20 or more years.
Don’t act like it happened under Obama in 6 years, asshat.
So the GOP is now interested in class warfare? I wonder if the Koch brothers are in on the joke.
Man… if folks fall for this then they are beyond stupid, and deserve the goat screw they will get.
I recognize this is petty and superficial and has nothing to do with his policies, but Ted Cruz makes Dick Nixon look like George Clooney. Cruz is the most repulsively ugly pol I’ve seen in decades.
If Obama’s economy is helping the 1%, what is he complaining about? That is the Republicans’ goal, is it not?
Man . . . whoever said “Politics is show business for ugly people” must have been thinking of Ted Cruz.
Ummm…I believe the effects that he is describing are mainly due to the Bush tax cuts. This is almost as funny as the attempts to blame the financial crash on President Obama. The good news is that in this by making a populist appeal, he may alienate the anti-tax conservatives in the party, reducing the already slim chance he may have had to occupy Pennsylvania Avenue.
Ted - You mean trickle-down doesn’t work?
Senator Cruz continued, “Oceania has always–always–been at war with east asia”.
GOP : Obama policies only helping 1%
Obama : (contains laughter) OK, let’s raise taxes on the 1% and use the money to fund infrastructure spending and other policies that help the middle class.
GOP : …crickets…
bonus alternative ending…
GOP : class warfare!
While the GOP stonewalls any effort to increase the minimum wage and continues it’s efforts to repeal the ACA.
Their world is upside down from ours.
Uhhh… Say, who is it that writes the laws anyway…?
And, it’s worth pointing out that the “Big Government” that Obama is Presiding over employs a lot fewer people than when he took over. Cruz will say that government is doing too much. And its doing “too much” with fewer people.
In other words, Republicans pine for the good old days when there were more government employees getting less done.
Any journalist that does not push back on this and point out many of the policies that Obama has proposed to help the middle class but the GOP has filibustered, and that the entire GOP economic policy is based on tax cuts for the rich, should be fired and barred from journalism for life for gross incompetence.
Is he for real on this? Since when have the GOP cared. These are just talking points being shaped
Not that anyone who is a Republican will bother to look at things like actual data. But here are some simple charts that show that income inequality really started ramping up shortly after Reagan took office.
Once again, Obama has used his time machine, gone back to 1983, and destroyed the country. I wish he’d stop doing that.
The ugliness on the inside of this worthless creature is reflected on the outside. He’s ugly through and through and hypocritical and opportunistic and useless in the long run.
I know some web site has the “Lie of the Year” award. If there is a site that has “Most Shameless Political Attack of the Year” award, this is hands down the winner.
Of course we have, but the fact that article didn’t have a dozen quotes from elected Democrats pointing that out is what’s important. GOP isn’t blind to the irony of these statements which they’ve been repeating for weeks, but they’re confident they can win the media/talking-point game which is why they’re saying it.
“…The so-called 1 percent that the president is always talking about have done quite well…”
So cut my taxes and forgive all my debts too.
While you’re at it, subsidize my development costs, and absolve me of all legal liabilities. Let me shut down obstacles to my ability to grow – such as obstacles like WalMart – and… oh, don’t forget the lower taxes part.
One more thing. My wife makes these cute holders for coffee cups so your hands don’t get burned. A war and a multi-million dollar government contract for cups holders would be nice.
Thank you.
