Yeah, he didn’t terrify the 3-year old because 3-year olds are able to think abstractly and understand that he was using a metaphor. I’m sure that the literal meaning didn’t cross her mind.

Cruz argued that satellite data going back 17 years shows there’s been “zero” warming. But that argument appears to stem from a flawed 2011 study
He’s not Freddy Kruger. He’s Teddy Cherrypicker. And not a good one at that. A good cherrypicker at least singles out research that is at least equivocal and not dead wrong.
The paper, “On the Misdiagnosis of Surface Temperature Feedbacks from Variations in Earth’s Radiant Energy Balance” by Roy W. Spencer and William D. Braswell was published in a free-access, that is a for-profit, non peer-reviewed Journal, “Remote Sensing”

It bears repeating that Spencer committed one of the most egregious blunders in the history of remote sensing — committing multiple errors in analyzing the satellite data and creating one of the enduring denier myths, that the satellite data didn’t show the global warming that the surface temperature data did…It also bears repeating that Spencer wrote this month, “I view my job a little like a legislator, supported by the taxpayer, to protect the interests of the taxpayer and to minimize the role of government.”

Typical of the politician who has nothing to sell but fear in order to win elections. Heightening concerns about crime and drug use even as rates for both are declining; playing on fears of international terrorism in the US while most of it is homegrown; a nuclear Iran dropping bombs on Israel and the US when the only country ever to detonate a nuclear weapon during wartime is the US.
