It’s actually embarrassing to watch this kazoo-voiced douchebag make such a colossal pandering ass out of himself in public. Cringe-worthy, even.

Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash wouldn’t piss on Cruz if he was on fire.

I would have thought that he listened to the “Looney Tunes” theme song, on a loop. That’s what I hear when I see him.

Cruz was also miffed by Urban Contemporary radio’s reaction to 9/11…

Switching from classic rock to country is more of a parallel move IMO. And jeeze, how fucking stupid do people have to be to believe this?

Cheap, unabashed, pandering…

Is that barbeque sauce on his white button-down shirt?

From Gayle King’s interview facial expression I assumed Cruz was wearing that new Burger King cologne…

“I actually intellectually find this very curious, but on 9/11, I didn’t like how rock music responded, the senator went on. And country music, collectively, the way they responded, it resonated with me.”

No offense to country music fans, but I’d suspect this is because modern country music is about the equivalent of a tween romance novel glued to an American flag collector plate in its intent, and featuring lyrics pulled from patriotic bumper stickers - “Freedom aint’ free!” . Either he’s shamelessly pandering by invoking 9/11, or he really does have the brain of a lizard.

Okay, then we can probably break it down for you. You are a pandering douchebag.

Yet more proof that Ted Cruz is an idiot. Because yeah, he’s doing this to fool the rubes, just like everything else he does. But what rube would find this compelling? Like, I was going to vote for Rand Paul, but Cruz switched his musical taste after 9/11, so I’ll now vote for him.

And is there a large bloc of country music fans that hate classic rock? That’s doubtful, since modern country music is BASED on classic rock. So telling people you switched from classic rock to modern country music is entirely idiotic and unlikely to win anyone over. It’d be one thing if he was trying to explain why he stopped listening to hiphop, but you’re not going to win the South by turning your back on classic rock.

Overall, this just makes him look like the pandering sellout that he is. He’ll say anything as long as he thinks someone might be gullible enough to believe it, even if it brazenly makes him look like an idiot. And that’s his big problem: That he’s clever but he’s not smart and he doesn’t have a clue what actually works and what hurts him, and he’s too dumb to know it.
