Discussion: Ted Cruz Clashes With Health Care Protesters At July 4 Celebration

It is interesting and I’m betting your guess is correct. Good luck with that, Rafael “Ted”.

First I didn’t know this was a “thing.” And second I experienced it once when a co-worker over microwaved salmon croquettes, stank to high heaven.

O god - if your co-worker wasn’t fired for that…o ew.

Hmmmm. Hispanic voters in Texas can choose between Beto O’Rourke (a Democrat who is also Hispanic a fourth generation Texan) or Rafael “Alberta Ted” Cruz (a Republican who was born in Canada and whose Daddy was a Cuban refugee).

I kinda don’t think Alberta Ted is going to fare well in that comparison. Especially in the Rio Grande Valley.

H/T @mkposs @columbiatexan – I really thought Beto was a Latino.

Y’all are more tolerant than I’d have been. O my god. I won’t cook fish in my house.

And Cruz is the bravest one of the Senate Republicans, in that he’s actually at a parade in a city with a significant population. Some of the others’ 4th of July parades:

Heller: Ely, Nevada, pop. 4,200
Murkowski: Wrangell, Alaska, pop. 2,400
Collins: Eastport, Maine, pop. 1,300

Agreed. As long as they get out there to vote, that’s my one concern.

Hey, since Kobach’s voter fraud thingy is dissolving into thin air, how about all us TPM’ers registering to vote in Texas?

Lot’s of trash to be taken out down there…

Do it!

It’s free - there is no state income tax in Texas. That’s why I can’t register New Mexico as my legal domicile - there is one here. Plus my vote really counts these days in Texas.

This is the reception he got at his college reunion. If you’re too arrogant for Princeton, that’s something.

“The proposal, which Republican leadership is weighing seriously, would allow states to sell cheap, bare-bones insurance plans that don’t cover essential health benefits like prescription drugs, hospital visits, mental health services and maternity care.”

This should be a daily talking point. Cruz care would be the Trump University of health insurance.

Thanks for posting this. It gave me an epiphany that this is a campaign I might get involved with. I’m in Berkeley and no nothing about Beto. Ted Cruz on the other hand…

I have a sister in Austin living with her republican boyfriend. I could stay with them and volunteer on the campaign somehow…

Poach salmon. The dill smells great.

Amazing how insightful the Brit’s are, when it comes to recognizing epic levels of irony…

’Don’t take away our healthcare’ says Trump country

I have done that. But I’ve eaten so much salmon that I can’t eat it anymore - don’t like it.

LOL. My DH came home (to Calgary!) from a salmon fishing trip to BC with an ice chest full of salmon. We ate it all summer long. That was the summer of '81. Haven’t eaten a bite of fresh salmon since then!

I’m shocked to consider the possibility that there’s such a thing as too much salmon (or pretty much any fish).

Cruz is doing some kind of Town Hall in Austin Thursday. There are all sorts of plans to show him the error of his ways. Also, Beto is not Hispanic, but he is a fourth generation El Paso native. Unlike Cruz, Beto is fluent in Spanish.

I’m sorry. :pensive:

I eat mad amounts of seafood every year in Italy and Sicily. Something just happened to me with regard to salmon - I used to love it. I used to eat it all the time. Now I can’t. Just can’t.
