Discussion: Ted Cruz Clashes With Health Care Protesters At July 4 Celebration

Oooo I’m so happy to hear that about Cruz in Austin. I hope he’s protested to within an inch of his sanity and since it’s Austin, chances are good.

I’ve heard, “everything’s bigger in Texas.”
If so, Cruz is indeed a giant turd.

Oh my. I’m going to Austin Thursday morning for meetings on Friday and don’t have a thing to do once I arrive. (Note to self: leave earlier in order to be around for the protests.)

O dear, l suppose that means you will be forced to go give Ted all kinds of hell. What a shame!

…and still be able to work in lunch at Manuel’s and happy hour at Truluck’s.

The proposal, which Republican leadership is weighing seriously, would allow states to sell cheap, bare-bones insurance plans that don’t cover essential health benefits like prescription drugs, hospital visits, mental health services and maternity care.

That sounds reasonable. After all, prescription drugs and hospital visits are the real bargain basement of healthcare. Anyone who can’t spring for those by raiding the coin jar in the bedroom just isn’t worth saving.

Mental health services are only for snowflakes. Real men just bottle it up for a decade, then shoot a bunch of people.

And of course, maternity is a choice, so insurance shouldn’t pay for it. Oh, wait, according to the RWNJ’s, it’s not!

Sounds like a beautiful day.

I must say that the 4th is as quiet around here in Taos as I’ve ever seen it. I don’t think anyone is celebrating.

I can’t see any celebrations in the near future. Perhaps in November at Black Tie. I imagine the drunken cattiness (in a good way) will be something akin to a celebration.

I can’t either. Last Christmas was pretty damn sad, too.

The nukers of fish belong in the same hell as those who burn their microwave popcorn or seemingly seek out the most garlic of microwave entrees. That popcorn guy, they actually have a special place in hell.

(Bitter memories, my offices were right off our lunch room)

Mine was half-way down the hall from the breakroom. And to add even more discuss said employee worked the opening shift and his lunch hour was 9AM when I came into work.

Found something to celebrate. (Courtesy of the UK press, of course. Why can’t we have journalists?)

Brave, brave Ted Cruz; acknowledging that people have the right to protest his policies, then complaining that they are too loud. What a wuss.

And Beto had a huge turnout despite the fact that Lubbock isn’t exactly what you would call progressive. They’re up in the Panhandle and about as right wing as they get. Compare that to sCruz-loose’s parade in McAllen where, although it’s in the Valley, it is still a right wing stronghold because of all the elderly Caucasian snowbirds who have moved there.

Agree. The turnout for Beto in Lubbock is far more important than the lack of support for Alberta Rafael in McAllen.

O I do love that. I’ve been hoping that was going to be the result of that war.

Yay! I can celebrate that alright. Thanks!

And @texasaggie - that’s another piece of downright awesome news. Thanks for that too!

Someone from another office once nuked popcorn in our break room across the hall and then entered our spaces. He ripped open the bag and, with smoke billowing out, said “hey, look, the popcorn’s on fire!”. He then dumped it into one of our metal trash cans - on carpet, no less - and started to walk out.

Let’s just say the situation was quickly resolved in a non-violent but very aggressive manner - the popcorn was quickly drowned in the janitor’s closet, and the person in question stopped dropping by quite so frequently…

9am? That is rugged. I suppose you went through Microwaved Egg in a cup craze as well. The area would reek for hours. Actually, I hope it was the eggs and not a co-worker.

We need to stop calling them ‘conservatives’. Ted Cruz is an extremist pushing policies that are for the 1% class. He is not following or defending the US Constitution - especially Article 6!

They are extremists - NOT conservative!
