very surprising that no one called him out on it, neither candidates nor moderators. Everyone just let it slide

Every time I see him, I wonder if Joe McCarthy had a fling down in Havana in the '50’s after his downfall.

There was no chance the moderators were going to challenge anybody last night. They knew what the deal was after the CNBC debate. That’s why they were grateful enough to Paul for pointing out that Trump’s babble about China in an answer concerning TPP was misguided (China isn’t part of TPP), that they pushed off the commercial break to let him finish pointing that out. Because the moderators certainly couldn’t.

Cruz is a walking example of why we NEED the Department of Education.

Lordy Lordy, the asshat is strong in this one.

attempted to laugh off his inability

Just one of the things that make Cruz so beloved by his fellow Senators, his warm, forgiving nature…

The Department of Education did not create Common Core, you miserable excuse of a human being.

is it an indication of poor 'rithmatic skills taught by Texas schools that these chumps spout out a number but can’t equate it to an equal number of gummintal department names? also indicative of poor critical thinking skill?

If he were to eliminate those Departments, there would still be the Departments of Defense, State, Justice , Treasury, Interior, Agriculture, Labor, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Transportation and Veterans Affairs.

Of course there is no way the country would be able to continue to function with the IRS, Department of Education, HUD, Energy and Commerce. As I recall there were schools before the creation of the Department of Education. There were houses and urban areas before the creation of HUD. There was commerce before the creation of the Department of Commerce. Energy existed before the creation of the Department of Energy.

If those Departments went away, those things would still exist.

Where did he say it did? He said he is for repealing Common Core. While the Dept of Education didn’t create common core, they provide financial incentive to those states who adopted it.

Why can’t we just return education money back to the states and let them worry about their own public schools?

What the hell is in the water in Texas when three - Two! - republicans can’t remember shit?

Sure let’s let kids in different states learn what their local politicians think they should learn. That’s responsible.

He screwed up royally in the most epic Rick Perry way. Trump won’t ever let him brush it off and neither will the GOP Establishment. Give them enough debates and they will all self-destruct.

Education is such a foreign concept to most Republicans? An American one but not a Texan one.

If you’re explaining, you’re losing.

  • Ronald Reagan

A. B. C. stands for Always Be Closing.

  • Blake in Glengarry Glen Ross

Blame it on the Texas drinking water – it makes their politicians a tad confused.

In that case, maybe the states that don’t want these departments should become their own little independent countries, like Texas wants to be. After all, there were states before the United States of America. If the USA went away, those things would still exist.
