Discussion: Tearfully, Sasse Insists That Kavanaugh Vote Is Not A Referendum On Women

Of course not Ben… its a referendum on paying your dues to your master. Squeezing out a few tears doesn’t mean shit.

The Kochs want Kavanaugh… they must get him

How many CYA speeches must we tolerate over the next 24-36 hours? Spineless bastards.

And if you withheld your vote note you could probably get him to nominate a woman…Amy Barrett was available last I heard. But it’s no longer about gender, or equity, or even the nearly sure vote to repeal Roe v Wade that Barrett would be…rather, it’s about having a partisan operative on the court as opposed to a mere judge.

We already knew you were a yes, you grandstanding fake-ass coward. You should play a president in movies–you’d be good at it. You’ll never be a real one.

If it’s not a referendum on women, it’s at least a referendum on character.

What did he have to cry about?

And lying about proveable things.

Oh boo hoo, Sasse can cry his crocodile tears all he wants but we women know exactly what this is about. And we have long memories.

Listen up, Benjie Boy: the days of white men mansplaining to the womenfolk that your self-serving decisions are not about keeping us in our places are over!

Women know damn well what’s at stake here. The vile words that have erupted from the mouths of our so-called president and a number of Republican senators about Dr. Blasey Ford, and about #MeToo generally, Brett Kavanaugh’s inexcusable public hissy fit that he submitted in place of actual testimony, Mrs. Ashley Kavanaugh’s deer-in-the-headlights look throughout her husband’s temper tantrum (of which I’d wager she’s seen, and been the target of, more than a handful), the White House’s foul limitations on the so-called supplementary “investigation” - all of these behaviors tell women exactly where the priorities of white men in privileged and powerful positions lie. And we know that female well-being doesn’t even make the bottom of their list.

So, Benjie Boy, go ahead and vote to put a drunken lout, sexual predator on the highest court in the land. And watch women voters disappear in droves from the Republican party. Women are beyond fed up with what you socially blind white males are dishing out to us. We’re finding our voices, and we’re finding that with our voices comes a power that terrifies you chicken shit little boys pretending to be big men who know what’s best for everyone - yourselves, women, people of color, people all around the world… You guys are a dying breed, and your type can’t decay fast enough for those of us who want to move forward.

I think I prefer in-your-face misogyny to Sasse’s teary-eyed bullshit

In-your-face misogyny is more honest.

There is a precedent for this in Bush v Gore, where the SCROTUS put its preferred candidate in office, with a disclaimer that the opinion was not a precedent, i.e., had no relation to the law before or since.

Here Sasse is rationalizing putting an angry alcoholic abuser on the Supreme Court and saying that is not an insult or an attack on those he has abused, or even, on the message that it sends to everyone abused about the kind of justice they can expect from the courts.

Sasse is either a naive schmuck in way over his head, or disgusting, lying pig, trying to maintain both his alliance with low-lifes and a decent public reputation.

Didn’t you see Kavanaugh ? It’s in vogue, soon Donald will sob for 60 minutes on the podium of an international press conference…

Just emailed Old Ben Sasse:
“This vote on Kavanaugh IS a referendum on women. With your vote for him, you are telling all women that if they are assaulted and come forward they will not be believed and that there will be no consequences. Even if you are extremely credible and are a woman of impeccable character. Even if you pass a lie detector test. Even if you come forward at great cost to yourself and your family. Even if you get mocked at a political rally by the president of the United States and his cruel followers at a political rally. You could vote no and get another qualified candidate in his place. Save us your crocodile tears. Women all over this country cry real tears over sexual assault every day and you refuse to acknowledge their pain.”

Also called him to tell him to say the same. I wish it would make me feel better, but it just feels so futile to try to reason with these troglodytes.

It’s also a referendum on civility, healthcare, social security, and Medicare. The Dems should be clear about this.

I’ll take that as a big “YES!” vote and your attempt to replace the retiring Senator Flake as Senator “I care… I REALLY do!”
