Don’t run again, Senator Sanders. Please.
Why does anyone respect this guy? Why?
You would think this would bother some of the Bernie-bots, wouldn’t you?
All those millennials who think Bernie can do no wrong. Who believe in him like kids believe in Santa and the bunny…
Why will this have no more impact on his true believers than the minions who fall for the President’s BS every day of the week and twice on Sunday?
It might be kind of painful for Bernie to find out how much help he got from Vlad.
I think one can make a reasonably compelling argument that Sanders had a positive effect on political discourse over his time in the 2016 campaign (you don’t have to agree with the conclusion in the end, but it’s a cogent argument).
I don’t think one can make a very compelling argument that Sanders’ time in the sun continues to present. For a variety of reasons, I think the conversation has moved on without him. His political goals are not unique within the likely 2020 field, he’s got these huge, glaring vulnerabilities vis-a-vis the Democratic Party constituency and current race/gender discourse, and he will forever be looked upon askance (if we’re being nice) by a substantial part of the primary electorate.
Just seems past his sell-by date.
Would rather not see Sanders run at all.
- He’s not a Democrat
- He was a sore loser who played into the hands of divisive manipulators and
- Refused to enthusiastically support the nominee.

Number 2 is probably the biggest disqualifier.
Yeah, and you forgot the part where they said that Toxic Masculinity is present in ALL campaigns, not just one particular campaign.
From the Politico article:
Several people who signed the letter said that their effort is not just about Sanders’ 2016 or 2020 presidential campaigns, but rather about what they called a pervasive culture of toxic masculinity in the campaign world. They stressed that they hoped their letter would not be reduced to reinforcing the “Bernie Bro” caricature, but rather would be part of a larger reckoning among people who run campaigns.
“This letter is just a start,” said one of the organizers who declined to be named. “We are addressing what happened on the Bernie campaign, but as people that work in this space we see that all campaigns are extremely dangerous to women and marginalized people and we are attempting to fix that.”
But the long knives are out, held by the ones demanding Unity…
If the possible 2020 Sanders campaign wants fewer white men and less overt sexism, then the easy fix is to replace Jeff Weaver.
Her, a party made up of mostly teenage boys and men in their 20s who screamed at women going to Hillary rallies turned out to be a bunch of sexist pigs. And why do so many sexist pigs follow him?
Call me not in the least surprised.
Call me the same.
“Was it too male? Yes. Was it too white? Yes,” former campaign manager Jeff Weaver told the Times of the 2016 campaign."
“Would this be a priority to remedy on any future campaign? Definitely, and we share deeply in the urgency for all of us to make change. In 2016, as the size of our campaign exploded, we made efforts to make it a positive experience for people. That there was a failure pains me very much.”
Nothing says vibrant and full of new, ground-breaking ideas like a white man who would, should he be elected, turn 80 in his first year in office… ![]()
The campaign’s organizational structure is relevant here. Was it a top-down closely-policed hierarchical arrangement like Clinton’s, was it a loosey-goosey grassrootsy kind of thing, in which “complaining to the higher ups” essentially had no meaning because there was no real hierarchical structure in the first place, or was it somewhere in between? I don’t know the answer to that question, but it’s relevant to how one places and apportions blame here.
I supported Sanders in the primary and have no shame in it. I’m saddened this happened, it shouldn’t have. But I’d like to ask a question and get an honest answer. Did this happen at a higher prevalence than in other campaigns of other candidates? In Clinton’s, Romney’s or anyone who ran? People are not always well behaved, an unfortunate reality.
I pointed out Tad Devine’s Russia ties on a friend’s facebook post and was accused of being a Fox News Zombie.
Well, sure. Nobody at all was aware of issues like sexism during the 2016 election cycle.
SMH…
Good.
Fuck him.
