If Armstrong Williams is a male, it should be “confidant.”
An August profile by The Hill on Williams describes him as having no official role in the campaign, but being very involved in Carson’s day-to-day decisions.
Sounds like one of my ex-wives.

Armstrong Williams? Doesn’t he sell vitamins or something on TeeVee?
Even if Carson builds a wall big enough to separate the U.S. from Ireland, he is not getting any nomination by the Republican Party for President of the United States.
He may have a career even more lucrative than Sarah Palin as a symbol, however.

I’ve met Armstrong Williams on several occasions. This sounds pretty much like what I’d expect from him.
The good news is that even certifiable asshats like Ben Carson are running away from anything dealing with gay marriage. This confirms that they’re not crazy, they’re just cynical. Once you take away the electoral upside of advocating a bigoted idea, they slowly slink away from it.

It’s amazing to me given the very strange string of comments on various subjects Dr Carson has made that he would be one of the top contenders fort he GOP nomination. And see who his chief competitor is it makes even less sense (if that’s possible). Both of their leading contenders have absolutely zero experience in getting elected or actually dealing with an elected position. Zero political office experience I would think would not be a good skill set for stepping into the highest office in the land.

The Carson team, which I seriously doubt is a fully-staffed, professional nationwide political operation is already fraying at the seams…before Labor Day?!!
This does not bode well for them.
But according to their supporters, the fact that they have zero political office experience is precisely the source of their attractiveness. They aren’t insiders; they’re outsiders and won’t be influenced by being an insider. If elected, then they’ll be inside-outsiders.
Yeah, it’s that convoluted…

To be fair, if that is Carson’s stated position and he hasn’t said anything to conflict with it since, I’m fine with him wanting to stick by his earlier statement.
However, as a POTUS candidate, he needs to be aware that a POTUS doesn’t have the luxury of being able to avoid topics they don’t like. He would be the President of every citizen, not just the heterosexual ones.
What’s the story here? Far be it for me to take Carson’s side on anything, but Williams is right - Carson was clear about the SCOTUS ruling, and the tweet that allegedly caught TPM’s eye re-states that. What the hell is the point of calling up his campaign and asking if he stands by what he clearly stated several times?
I dunno - maybe the story is that Williams gets mad sometimes and the scotus part was something to fill up the space. I guess as long as there’s no shortage of 1s and 0s, this kind of story will be worth writing about.

One could get some experience w/o being an “insider”. In Carson’s case he has never led anything bigger than an operating room team. Trump on the other hand has learned that delegating is a necessary skill in business. but that’s about all he’s learned.

Well, as you may have noticed, the latest PPP poll a majority of Trump (and no doubt Carson) supporters think Obama is Muslim and also was born in a foreign country…Get the picture?!!
There’s a subset of humans who if they have evidence before their eyes will still disbelieve.
The birthers could have had an observer in the hospital room when Obama was delivered and still they’d deny he was born in Hawaii. Conspiracy theories don’t need nor do they operate from actual reality based evidence. These theories are based on conjecture or the fevered musings of a fearful mind. Example: the military says they want to hold a training exercise and feel they should inform locals of what they might see…Alex Jones freaks and after musing says " FREEDOM IS UNDER ASSAULT!! THE MILITARY’S TAKIN’ OVER TEXAS!! THEY’RE COMIN’ FER OUR GUNS BECAUSE FREEDOM!!
And it’s made all the easier because a really good president (whom I support) happens to be a black man.
