Unless these teachers were told they would be subjected to a mock execution and have painful projectiles shot at them at close range in a pinhead form of aversive therapy, I think we’re looking at a firing offense based on the inability to use good judgment even with non-lethal weapons. This is sadism masked with a thin veneer of stated good intentions.
BTW those airsoft pellets are soft, sure enough. But they’re also small and can be shot across the room fast enough to punch through paper targets on the other side of it. If you walked up and did that at close range to someone on the street who hadn’t asked you to you’d do a month or so for battery. If you did it to me as a joke I’d put you into the wall.

I have to wonder what sort of psychological damage we are doing to people with this sort of “training.” Not just teachers with active shooter role playing but the lockdown drills all of the children put through. You’re teaching people to prepare to be murdered at school.
The armed school officers, the drills, and everything else we do to mitigate the risk of random gunmen is a tax we are all forced to pay by the gun fetishists so they can enjoy the status quo gun violence. It is both a literal and psychological tax extracted from every single one of us so a dangerous subculture in our society can indulge their f**&ed up fantasies about self-defense or armed insurrection.
