Oh, I don’t think he’s faking. I think he’s really, truly that amazingly stupid. I sometimes see him on Hardball and Real Time. Neither Chris nor Bill ever really goes after him too badly because I think even they know he’s severely intellectually challenged. Most of the time the hosts just talk around him to their other guests and more or less treat him like a dumb little kid trying to interject his opinions into an adult conversation. They just kind of verbally pat him on the head and say, “That’s nice, dear. Now, be a good boy and go play with your friends.”

He makes nearly half a million bucks a year for derping, basically. Most people have to be able to repair mitral valve prolapses or do something else useful to make that kind of money. Puzzling—I’d have thought the supply of derp in the world would always outstrip the demand but obviously I’m no economist.
