You better pop your head out your window of your house and see if the black helicopters aren’t flying around. Because that’s way out there pal.
Many tea party types are openly speculating foul play and that Democrats and black voters were involved.
A few things:
- Why can’t these folks just accept they lost and take some personal responsibility for THEIR loss?
- How long will it be before they blame it on an Obama Conspiracy?
- And who let those Blacks vote? Why isn’t that illegal?
Party of “Personal Responsibility” my azz.
“… there is something a bit unusual about a Republican primary that’s decided by liberal Democrats.”
And something clearly strange when someone running for office doesn’t understand the election process.
“Gol-damm-it - I done paid to win. I should be the winner! RECOUNT!!”
We must change the rules until I’m the winner.
Mississippi’s black voters made the rational decision that when the choice was between a polite racist and a stone cold neo-Confederate Klan apologist racist whose rhetoric seems to have been culled from the archives of the State Sovereignty Commission, go with the polite racist. If you’re in the business of denying that racists are racist, this choice is going to seem inexplicable to you.
And I suspect that if one were a black Mississippian, the idea of fiddling around with game theory and letting the worse racist win in the hope his extremism will drive general election voters to the Democrat is about as attractive as the idea of storing sweaty dynamite in your kitchen junk drawer.
They long for a good fascist state where they rule completely, wrap themselves in a flag and chant to and follow mystical fairytales to assure themselves they are superior…you know, much like the Third Reich.
Here’s where 125 years of white southerner idiocy on race in elections come home to roost… the primary was established to give poor whites a say in nominees and the Democrats were the only game in town. In the 80s the Dems fought against changing to an open system or registration by party. Now they have reaped the whirlwind. Party primaries in the south are open and runoffs are limited to voters who voted in the previous primary OR NEW voters. No crossover allowed among previous voters castinbg ballots. In November, all’s fair in love and war.
Cochran was uncertain about running this time and it was a rather, let’s say languid campaign, so it would be fitting that in this term which could be his last, he really forgets he’s an R and acts like a Democrat for the good of everyone in his state especially those who crossed party lines.
What kinds of noises are we gonna hear when Cochran looses in the real election?
Ja! Victory was in shight until you ver shtabbed in der back by Them!
The problem in this approach comes when “The Other” starts to include people like Joe Scarborough. At some point only blood relatives are left, and they may not want to include you in return. It can get mighty lonely if you let things go too far.

I’m investing in research on popcorn genetics.
If you think Cochran is “Democrat lite” then you have slipped the bonds of reality.
After declaring that Cochran’s win proves the system is fraudulent and the election was stolen, Moosalini of Wasalla, Sarah Whatsherface’, is threatening to quit being a Bagger Republican to start a third party…of course, a party she can quit at some future date.
Bon voyage, Caribou Barbie…and GET OUT!
I’m not happy until they’re not happy.
Plus, who’s the one that has been bringing home the free money for the past 20 something yrs. And the other person said its time for that to stop. Go out and get a job or two if you have to.
I couldn’t agree more. Race is complicated but MS black voters demonstrated political acumen in rejecting Papacito. Cochran needs to show he recognizes that if he wins the seat again…
Better to live with the Devil you know than the one you don’t.
Are you yelling at the guy in the mirror again?
Or maybe just read the statutes Republican legislatures have been passing and consider the suggestions made concerning the 17th Amendment.
When the odious Tea Potty wing of the RepubliKKKlan Party runs a candidate who wants to shoot you and burn down your house, the establishment Republican who wants to stab you and take your wallet is a “compromising moderate”.
Oh whatta’ lovely uncivil war the GOPigs are having.
Pass the popcorn while I try not to spill my overflowing cup of shadenfreude.
