This is the inevitable outcome - harassment claims as retribution and score-setting. Not every claim of harassment is an honest one. Some are false. Some are simple confusions of a single act - he-said-she-said means that there is no objective truth.
I’m sorry, I’ve just been around too many men that do this shit on a regular basis and brag about it. And although I didn’t and don’t do it, I’m guilty of not condemning it when they told me.
So, any allegation is true, eh? That’s a bad position to take. Because false accusations are made. Score-setting is real. I have been falsely accused of stuff, and it was enormously difficult, possibly part of my failure to get tenure. I come down, reflexively, on the side of the accused. Because false accusations are terrible.
Well it’s a guess on pretty much everyone’s part but the folks involved. So if I have to take a guess I’m going to go for the one that has the best chance of being right.
And who is that?
The accusers. Do you have the same doubts about Moore and Donald’s accusers?
It’s astounding number of comments calling for a republican that has been accused to step down and the almost empty comments section when a Democrat is accused. Fucking astounding. And I don’t disagree that a shitty democrat is a thousand time better than a typical Republican. But there is a very obvious bias in the comments.
Yes, I do have the same doubts. He was interested in younger women, true. But a lot of guys are. And a lot of younger women pretend to be older. He is accused, basically of kissing women who are 17. That’s like going 31 in a 30 MPH zone. The 14 YO - unclear about that. He disputes the age. No one has shown evidence. Political attacks, and this is a political attack, need some documentation. What year? When was she born? Being interested in a 14 YO and a 17 YO is very different.
When I was in college and 19 or 20 I was approached by a 14 or less year old girl. She was the daughter of the maintenance guy at the apartment complex I lived at. She claimed she wasn’t a virgin. I actually was. I don’t draw a lot of difference between age especially when they are willing. I draw the difference at whether they were willing or not. And that seems to be the common thread in the Moore, Trump, Bush, Franken.
A similar thing happened to me, and I bet a bunch of guys (a majority for sure). Girls in late teens want to pretend to be older. I’m not saying it’s right, but I will say that it certainly happens, a lot. And almost all of the claims are that he kissed them. Wow, that’s so horrible. Not. But we do not know about willingness. With Franken, if you read the account, Tweeden realized that something had happened MONTHS later, after she got the photos. In other words, whatever happened in real time was not enough to wake her up. You touch me, I wake up. Even a tiny bit, and I doubt that she would have slept through someone molesting her through a flak jacket (which is like feeling up someone in a very stiff brocade coat). For Moore, they all went out with him. They kissed him. It’s a political thing.
