Discussion: Swing-District Rep. Donovan Accused Of Helping Girlfriend's Son After Heroin Bust

“This is a disgusting, vicious, and false attack…"

So, I gather the allegations must be true.

Staten Island Republicans have a grim choice ahead of them.

Time to ask if Donovan supports Trumps plan for the death penalty for heroin dealers.

Finally, a GOTPer takes action on the whole opioid epidemic.

I went to an teen overdose wake last week and it was terrible in so many ways.

I have a friend who works part time in a funeral home and he says he sees one a month at least at that facility and there are likely more than that.

This issue is a national crisis on the scale that makes me wonder if it’s part of some bigger plot to undermine the country. Can’t blame Putin for everything, but I’m sure it’s occurred to him that our heroin problem doesn’t hurt him at all.

Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me …

Roy Moore’s son was arrested and released 9 times. Maybe NY will handle things differently than AL…

He should do the right thing and turn in his step-son to Trump to have it executed for dealing opioids.

Staten Island is the borough most impacted
by the opioid crisis so it’s not too surprising that the congressman would, however ethically dubious step in to help the girlfriends son.

He gets high with a little help from his friends.

I am not shocked that the Congressman, a former Prosecutor, would take steps to protect a family member from the effects of our Draconian “War on Drugs.” I am sure any parent would do the same. Once again proving that the “War on Drugs” is a giant mistake. Take the money out of drugs and start dealing with Opioid crisis as a public health emergency.

Sorry, you don’t use your position to help someone skirt the law. I know with trump in the WH we seem to ignore these type of things but it’s not right. Justice is supposed to be blind and if others with the same cases did not receive the same treatment then there is a problem.

Justice is BLIND… to republican misdeeds… she only sees democrats. Nothing new for today’s GOP

While it is true that the Russian mob i.e. the Russian government is heavily involved in heroin trafficking, the blame for the current opioid epidemic can be placed squarely on the Sackler family, which owns Purdue pharmaceuticals, which knowingly and purposefully addicted America to OxyContin.

ETA The Sacklers and Purdue don’t care about the country one way or the other. They’re in it for the money, same as any other pusher.

I take it you have never had a kid who had an encounter with the law. Of course, a parent will do whatever it takes to protect his or her child particularly when the results of the encounter are a ruined life. The people in the system need to expect he or she will try and resist accordingly.

The system needs to work for all citizens. Right now it is used to severely punish users and small time pushers in ways that don’t solve the drug crisis. That means, except for people who run private prisons, it doesn’t help anybody.

If you can’t use your position to help yourself and your friends, then what’s the point? “Do things for your constituents and the country”? Really? That is SO last millennium.

Glad to see that this AMERICAN PATRIOT has a plan to fight the OPIOID epidemic! MAGA!
