Discussion for article #241171
Actuality
The survey found that 60 percent said a budget deal must maintain current funding levels for the family planning organization while 32 percent said government funding should be eliminated. Eight percent were undecided.
GOP âActualityâ
Responses broke down on predictably partisan lines, with 83 percent of Democrats voicing support for maintaining funding and 66 percent of Republicans calling for its elimination.
Side note
The group has faced attacks by congressional conservatives since the release of several âsting videosâ that purportedly show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of fetal tissue.
In regards to the quotesâŚthank you.
A dying party, laying on a table, itâs legs kicking, itâs arms waving, itâs little voice crying, âKill me, kill me, hurry, before I realize what Iâm sayingâŚâ
dudeee
CLEANS UP SPIT TAKE
32 percent eh? Thatâs about the floor for Certified Right-Wing CrazyâŚif they canât get more than that base, then they should realize this is a losing issue.
âCecile Richards provided testimony about the videos, which she said were âhighly editedââŚâ
Letâs just say the GOP view of reality is âhighly editedâ.
Itâs becoming increasingly clear that in this year, the GOP has little interest in rest of the nation, they are entirely focused on their base and only their base. And with their base, its polling at 66%.
And, after the string of defeats they have suffered recently (second loss on Obamacare with SCOTUS, loss on gay marriage, normalization of relations with Cuba, treaty with Iran, confederate flag coming downâŚ) they are NOT going to let up on PP. They will eventually lose of course, but that will only make them even crazier and lash out in more reprehensible fashion.
Let them continue to hammer away at this, and let the 68% of the public who disagree with them see it over and over and over and overâŚ
And let the D campaign machine be firing up Final Cut Pro ASAPâŚthese commercials write themselves.
The Republican percentage goes WAY up when you put their kids in the mix.
Yay ! ! â This issue is one that is going to bite the GOP in their ass come
ELECTION DAY ! ! !
Are you sure thatâs not ⌠redacted ? ?
Shutting down the government ahead of the holidays? With a new Speaker and new Leadership? It will be an unmitigated disaster for the GOP. Doing it over faux outrage over doctored videos of Planned Parenthood?
Good bye GOP Senate.
Duh. Thatâs been a consistent poll number for years and not likely to change because some goobers want to shut down the government over it. They will lose Independents over this if they try, if they havenât already.
Besides, tell me when Republicans have ever cared about what a majority of Americans want? Not for yearsâŚItâs been decades since weâve seen it last.
A majority of Americans want background checks on guns. A majority of Americans believe overwhelmingly in Climate Change. A majority of Americans believe in unrestricted access to birth control. A majority of Americans believe corporations are not people. A majority of Americans believe in campaign finance reform. A majority of Americans believe in immigration reform and a path to citizenship. A majority of Americans believe that there should always be exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother as it relates to abortion. A majority of Americans are for fixing our decaying infrastructure and funding road repairs. Americans are for protecting our air, water, and land. A majority of Americans think big pharmaceutical companies charge too much for medicine, and should be paying less or a least on par with what other countries charge, and should be regulated on their costs by the government. The list goes on.
The problem is Republicans in Congress are not responsive to the needs of the American people in general and havenât been for a long time. They donât believe in âthe public goodâ. In fact, the only thing they believe in is getting re-elected to collect on that taxpayer salary for themselves, while dismantling government one brick at a time. Their own self-interest is all that matters to them now. That fact is indisputable everywhere except in the beltway media and on cable, where there is a desire to elevate Republican minority views the party wants to subject the rest of the country to, even though it is not supported by most Americans.
To add to it, political corporate interests by media heads have managed to turn the entire system on its head and give the public only that which they want the masses to hear. Theyâve become the ultimate arbiters of whatâs important and whatâs considered the truthâŚand they do it with dollar signs in their eyes and their profit motive as a driving force.
According to the NBC-WSJ poll taken at the end of July, only 29% view Republicans favorably, 45% view the Republican party unfavorably. Planned Parenthood had a 41% favorable rating and a 31% unfavorable rating. Planned Parenthood is more popular than the Republican party and actually picked up a few points after the sting videos were released.
Oh, they will, have no doubt.
Remember the 2012 debates when Benghazi blew up in Romneyâs face? One of the worst screw ups in the modern history of Presidential debates.
Their response? To dig in even deeper on a nothing issue that they have lost every time so that, here they are 8 investigations later, in the longest congressional investigation ever, still babbling about Benghazi.
How many votes to overturn Obamacare ? North of 50 at last count. And 2 SCOTUS decisions against themâŚeven with a republican court. Yet Boehner has another court challenge going forward, and the last shutdown was about defunding Obamacare.
So yeah, its a pretty safe bet that they will keep hammering at Planned Parenthood no matter how many times, or how badly, they lose.
Good
Itâs better than bingo, because, in those moments when they win, the âlow classâ people suffer. Beats winning a toaster.
Of course the public thinks Planned Parenthood should be funded. Thatâs because of the influence of George Soros and the Liberal Lamestream Media.
Sounds like a band name.
Majority Of US Says Congress Should Keep Funding Planned Parenthood
As Dick Cheney wouuld say, âSo?â. We canât afford to be distracted from our goals by some focus group like the American people.
The GOP has been dedicated to thwarting the will of the American people for decades.
Have you really seen that video?
