Discussion: Surveillance Footage Shows Drunk Fox News Anchor Brawling With Cops

I echo the hopes that Jarrett get help and sincerely wish for his recovery. That said, you just know that he would be among those Fox hosts running a video like this on a loop if a Democratic legislator had been the perpetrator—and with a lot less sympathy than is being directed toward him by TPM readers.

Chemical and alcohol dependency is ugly.
And dangerous if you get a testy cop.

Oh yeah what suburb do you live in? I’ve seen people with darker skin handled a lot rougher than this for a lot less, this fox law breaker got what he deserved!

You speak the truth!

He’ll now be a hero to the Teabaggers for standing up to the Jackbooted Gumment Thugs.

Ha, ha, ha. Silly wabbit. Doesn’t he know that all he has to do is claim drug rehab and he gets off?

I assumer Ailes & Co. were neither drunk nor on painkillers when they hired this buffoon to communicate with the public; ditto when they chose not to terminate his employment. The incident says at least as much about the employer as the employee.

Let this be a lesson to everyone. Having good hair does not make you above the law.

I feel for this man and his family. Drinking and doing drugs on his way home on the day he was released from treatment should clearly be a signal to him that he didn’t do the hard work of recovery. I hope this “new bottom” will get him on the right track and into AA meetings.
There is no “schadenfrude” in these situations – it is a sad human condition. I felt the same way about Limbaugh when he first went into treatment. Over the years, he has demonstrated that he isn’t in recovery, either, and speaks frequently about drinking “adult beverages”. Of course – if I were him – I would be inclined to drink every time I looked in a mirror.

Sorta sad. Jarrett clearly has problems, but slamming him against the wall for basically standing up seems like overkill.

Then you should have a problem with the court in NYC finding the Occupy Wall Streeter guilty of resisting arrest and sending her to jail for 6 months.

Now add a loaded handgun in his unchecked baggage to the mix, see what happens.

I agree, but what are we to do? He reportedly had “documentation on him that he had just been released from an alcohol and chemical dependency treatment facility.”

The man could have killed someone if he had driven drunk. I feel sorry for him, but if he is a chronic alcoholic…?

If I had to work for Fox I would drink too.

Only the very best people work for Fox.

Can I know the name of the rehab facility so that I can avoid ever going there?

Oops, now we will hear how this is a case of the cops overreaching authority, etc. from the Tea Party. I mean, you should be free to get drunk, be belligerent, and not obey the laws of our land. I think it is a Libertarian thing… you know, it’s about me, screw you.
