Discussion: Supreme Court Rejects Another Challenge To Obamacare

Discussion for article #244853

Shouldn’t providing how each justice voted be a necessary part of this reportage?

All patriotic Americans should be outraged that getting insurance for pre-existing conditions is even possible without having to liquidate all your assets and borrow money to afford the premiums. A Republican President and Congress will put an end to this travesty.

This is all typically decided during Justices’ Conferences where no one else is permitted inside the room except for the justices. I expect they don’t tally the vote so everyone feels they can speak freely. They only needed four to hear the case, so it was a pretty solid, nope.

Maybe Arpaio should have U.S. Superior Court Judge Bruce Doucette hear the case.

Supreme Court: Nah we don’t care what the Constitution says. Or what Obamacare actually does (makes insurance and healthcare more expensive). Because we like it irrationally, screw doing our jobs!

Except Obamacare is requiring people to liquidate assets and borrow money to afford the premiums.

Remember, Obamacare was not about improve health care or making health insurance cheaper. It was about increasing who has health insurance. That’s what it was supported by many insurance companies.

The hope was to make insurance more affordable though. Through getting more people involved and allowing choice through the market place. The issue is that the premiums will always vary across the country and will always go up at some rate. However, that was always a pipe dream of sorts.

To much faith in any sort of market and for the most part premiums are on the state level.

Yeah, you’re gonna have to provide a link of that one because I’m calling BS.

…when you use the exception as the rule, it is always disingenuous. The folks here aren’t that stupid.

Make your argument and state the facts, but don’t imagine for a moment you can grossly generalize with impunity.

If you are serious about your contention that a notable percentage of people with new coverage have to sell assets, give a link to an article, but stating it as a fact without proof is meant for dupes and dimwits, lets see the numbers of how many people have been forced o seel assets to pay for their ACA coverage.

Although every argument really goes back to single-payer, and most of us know that is inevitable. But that being said, we still require proof of your statement, don’t assume anyone let it pass, but remember, if no one challenges you that means no one thinks you are legitimate, and your argument is simply provocative, not really pertinent.

I have to agree with so many critics, it is still unaffordable… and single payer is the only solution.

But there really ARE more people covered, now we need to work on making single payer the next step.

Although if you want MHO, the actual costs of healthcare should be regulated, including the profits.

ESPECIALLY the profits, The fact those are the primary motivator, rather than the well being of our people is naked proof we worship wealth more than happiness, no matter what the founders might have written.

100% BULLSHIT.

You are aware that the premiums are subsidized for a large percentage of those participating in the plan, right?

After a couple decades of Fox News visiting America’s households I fail to understand how bringing facts to a discussion is still socially acceptable behavior. Have you no fetchins’?

jep07: what statistics are you referring to when you say it is still unaffordable? many people have found less expensive plans. i would agree that health insurance is higher than it should be. start right with u.s. drug companies. single payer, makes sense, EXCEPT, you can’t make it happen. gop co-operation would be needed. how do you get around those i got no sense people?

Do you quibble about car insurance or home insurance or do you just keep your fingers crossed? Have you heard the term risk pool? And in fact Obamacare was about improving health care (no more preexisting conditions) and making it cheaper (subsidies). But do tell more and cite some examples
