Discussion: Sun-Times Reporter Hired Private Investigator

Discussion for article #229031

Mad about a story about you threatening someone?

First step: don’t threaten the dude who wrote the story and can then write a story about you threatening him.

“Rauner’s campaign seems to have argued to the Sun-Times that there was a conflict of interest in McKinney writing the story because he’s married to Democratic media consultant Ann Liston.”

Tell that to Scalia’s pet.

Hiring someone to investigate improper interference with an employment relationship sounds as if it might involve more than just trying to get the story killed. And yeah, we’re not even going to get into some of the intertwined family relationships between “news” and “operative” types on the GOP side.

Rauner sold his stake in the Sun-Times before he began his campaign. Sun-Times vowed several years ago not to endorse candidates anymore. Sun-Times puts reporter who wrote critical Rauner article on hiatus. Sun-Times endorse Rauner.

Nothing to see here, move along.

So there’s this story, and the ad already running on tv in Illinois, where he says" I will bury her" in quoted court documents about the CEO of LeapSource. Makes me wonder how Poll Tracker has him having any lead. He has an apparently unpleasant habit of threatening people that speak out against him.

I thought they settled on the term “personal assistant” for Clarence Thomas, so as to avoid charges of racism?

TPM: Please give us another story on this that tells us what actually happened. This garble is utterly mystifying.

There is a television show called “The Good Wife.” It is set in Illinois. This story could be a plot line in that pot boiler.

I don’t know if the TPM editors are trying to save paper, but their absolute refusal to tell all of the facts necessary to make a story coherent is becoming disconcerting.

It is an act of desperation to go after reporters. Michael Grimm, the juiced up politician in New York, I believe, gave it a go and so did the event organizer in the NH riot this past weekend. They all fail and this guy will too.

Reporters inherently go and tell, they don’t sit on the attack or shush up. It is their job in fact.
