Discussion: STUDY: Fewer People Skipping The Doctor Because Of Cost After Obamacare

That will change when Donnie the Thumbs is inaugurated… they have to follow Alan Grayson’s tweetable ‘Get sick. Die quick’ summation.

Fewer people skipping probably means more people are healthier and living longer. The first result is an assault on the income of doctors everywhere and the second means more money being paid out in “entitlements” which Republicans don’t like at all.

Before I became a senior citizen I didn’t realize just how much the Republican party leadership resents senior citizens. I thought Grayson was over the top, but when your own economic interests are involved you pay close attention. Republicans do want to see people die quickly, but only after they have extracted as much money as possible for their friends in the healthcare industry.

To republicans this is a flaw not a feature. Undesirable sick people getting in the way of the rich trying to make an appointment for a hang nail.

It’s also cheaper and more effective. The earlier you catch a condition, the cheaper it is to treat it and the greater the likelihood of a successful outcome.

It is good, ergo it must die.

GOP logic.

I wish the GOP was a hallway full of terrified rebel soldiers, and I was Darth Vader standing in the doorway, lightsaber ablaze.

I assume some of you who have visited the cinema recently understand that to which I refer.

It’s all part and parcel with Ayn Rand ideology: The old and sick are parasites on the maker class and ought to be dispatched with. Compassion is weakness (the polar opposite of the teaching of Christ.)

Absolutely.

We’ve cancelled all of our medical checkups to prevent establishing a pre-existing condition on our records now that the Republicans are in charge and that they clearly don’t believe in basic healthcare for all Americans…their system is one that’s based on money for everything including basic human rights.

So no checkups until we see what Trump is going to do…to this point, like everything else, Trump won’t disclose his plans because he knows that 90% of America will realize he pulled a big bait and switch on the white middle class.

People are also not looking for better jobs right now…keeping the job and the healthcare they cyurrently have Vs risking the move and losing healthcare under whatever Trump and the Republicans dream up.

Beyond healthcare, we’ve stopped spending on discretionary items…if Trump cuts taxes on the billionaires he will obviously have to raise them on the rest of us just like Bush in order to pay for at least some of the military increases. It’s too uncertain under Trump to be spending on anything other than the basic essentials.

Haven’t seen Darth Vader work his magic, but I did recently see Joe Pesci work his magic in Casino.

This is also the time of year when any suggestions by doctors that a test be taken or a procedure or visit be scheduled needs to be measured against the real need for it. Likely they’ll be on next year’s calendar, and the whole expensive out of pocket, satisfy the deductible provisions kick in again.

Another good thing our government has done, soon to be cast away in the name of corporate profits. And hurting people. We can’t forget the joy Republicans seem to derive from causing other people pain.

Actually, the GOP doesn’t care if it’s good or not. What they really hate is the idea that the government might do something that people actually like.

More than one Republican member of Congress has said from the very beginning that the reason they fought so hard against the passage of the ACA is that people would like it… and remember which party gave it to them.

We can’t have the public being grateful to Democrats.

Call your senators and tell them no repeal until a viable, verifiable replacement plan is on the table that will insure at least as many as are now covered by the ACA. Calls to their office is the most effective way of getting their attention. Murkowski’s office told me they are getting swamped which is a wonderful thing. Please call folks, it’s one of the few tools we have to slow down this onslaught.

We all know that the only viable alternatives are:

  1. Single payer

  2. Obamacare
