Discussion: Students, Parents Chant 'No More Guns' At Florida Shooting Vigil

Nobody should be allowed to buy more bullets than Sudafed tablets, and no; I’m not in favor of lifting the limits on meth ingredients. Clips and magazines should be limited to six rounds. Nobody ever killed 17 people with a revolver. While I’m at it, anyone who can’t get a deer with a lever-action 30-30 should give up hunting for good.

There should be no stores called “Sunrise Tactical Gear” anywhere in the United States! WTF kind of person is that business obviously trying to attract!

Not quite OT, but this perfectly reflects the tone-deaf mentality of the general GOP these days.

GOP Congressional Candidate Gives Away Guns in Campaign.

The stupidity is astonishing!!!

The next step is to go straight at Rubio and any of their reps who are enslaved by the NRA. Could Rubio deny a face-to-face with victims and their parents? At his peril…

Go ahead and accuse a grieving mother, or the friends and families of the victims, the people who knew them in the community, go ahead and accuse them of “politicizing the tragedy,” you bloodsuckers. Go ahead and talk about “American carnage,” while you’re causing it. Go ahead and let neo-Nazis march under torchlight and murder people who protest. Go ahead, but be aware that kind of reckless depravity never, ever ends well.

Force each and every member of Congress who is also a member of the NRA and who takes contributions from the NRA to do just that, and also to deliver the eulogy at their funerals!!! Walk the talk, or shut the hell up!

Hasn’t there been an incident where a congress critter had someone like that arrested for refusing to leave?

Oh I agree; the civilian tactical thing is equal parts ridiculous and disturbing. However what one might call the “tactical shooter fetish” is marketed at much more than the unstable lunatics – there has been a very concerted marketing effort to make this sort of thing seem “cool” to a broad swathe of gun-owners, and that’s a major reason there are over a million AR-15s in circulation in the US right now.

To put that slightly differently – a firearm is a pretty durable item. With decent care, they don’t wear out, become obsolete or otherwise need replacement the way a car or a laptop computer does. So if you’re the firearms industry and want to increase sales, what to do? The answer is to market the latest gadgets and innovations. You may have a gun, but do you have the latest super-tactical-ultra-shooter 5000, with a swappable recoil compensator and full-length accessory rail? It’s the entire marketing strategy of the American firearms industry right now. And we all know who the NRA works for.

I sincerely hope the parents and friends of these victims “politicize” this tragedy. They should invite Moms Against Guns to the funeral to give speeches, and put up voter registration booths. I imagine a lot of high school seniors are now planning to register to vote in November.

If parents don’t want their children to be at risk of being shot to death at school (or the mall or the movies), those parents need to stop voting for the people who put them at risk by their failure to enact common-sense regulations and restrictions.

Parents who don’t vote, or vote for the kinds of people who made Florida’s lax gun laws possible, have to stop expecting teachers and administrators to sacrifice their own lives and health saving their children.

If you’re a Florida parent , and you voted for Marco Rubio, you voted for someone who takes money from the NRA and is just fine with virtually no restrictions on guns.

And if you’re a parent who voted for Trump, you voted for someone who wants to cut funding for mental health programs, cut funding for school safety programs. You voted for someone who doesn’t care if you’ve fallen on difficult times – he’s going to make it harder for you in many ways. And if you’re lucky enough to not need help, that isn’t going to protect you from people driven to desperation by the mean and mean-spirited policies this administration and way too many Republicans want to inflict on those who have nothing between themselves and the abyss.

I know this is not going to go over well. Fifty years ago a lot of people including teenagers had guns but we didn’t have mass casualty shootings every other week. Don’t get me wrong, I think gun control is part of the solution, but it is only part of the solution, Assume we get rid of all assault rifles tomorrow, we still have giant family, mental health, education and entertainment issues that are destroying the fabric of our nation…

Both sides talk about simple fixes. Those simple fixes always require the other guy change his behavior. Nobody is willing to change his own behavior.

My daughter is going to go out today to buy my 9 year old grandson a Kevlar backpack guaranteed to stop a 44 magnum. What the hell kind of a sick nation have we become.

You can go back to blaming the other side now.
