“Thank God you can’t vote” - While I believe in promoting tolerance (especially as a model for young people), I would hardly call that a vicious or even a mocking comment.
hey hey! I think Fox has found a new host.
Come on - you know if this was a story about a student being mocked by faculty for wearing a Bernie or Hillary hat, you’d feel differently.
The teacher should know better.
I will agree with you that the teacher’s behavior isn’t admirable - but there is a certain irony in the fact that the student is supporting a candidate who doesn’t believe in being PC and mocks everyone.
He says an education technician took his hat, which reads “Make America Great Again,” and held it up in class.
Horrors!! Certainly the fiend should be horse-whooped and fired for such a horrible thing.
That’s not the whole story and you know it - another teacher allegedly said “Thank God you can’t vote”, which is a pretty demeaning thing to say to a 16 year old.
Again, if the tables were turned, there’d be all sorts of OUTRAGE in this comments section.
Likely true. But still not much of a story.
Oh, boo-hoo you azzhole!
If it had been the other way around, Trump’s SS would have beaten you to a pulp!
I remember when wearing a hat in school wasn’t even allowed. Heck, a red hat would be banned in some schools in my school district because it’s a gang color (my son’s middle school did not allow red or blue hats, socks, belts, barrettes, etc. because of this belief).
Breaking news:
Attention whore gets attention.
What if it is the teacher’s sincerely held religious belief that this hat is inspired by Satan? Shouldn’t he have the right to ridicule the hat and its wearer?
“Make America Great Again” is an OK slogan, but it’s an odd one to be used by a candidate who represents the party that wants to slowly dismantle our entire system of government.
That system of government is what made America great in the first place.
As for the kid, he’s 16. We all did stupid shit at that age.
What is an education technician? Did they use to be teaching assistants? The IT guy?
I thought Trump supporters were supposed to be AGAINST the “PC Gestapo”. Apparently, the first whiff of ridicule against them and they complain.
Seems they can dish it out, but cannot take it.
Hey, if your going to wear your derp on your noggin, that’s gonna happen.
At least they didn’t make him wear the Drumpf Cap and sit in the corner all day.

Yes, ed techs are what we used to call teaching assistants. Often they have degrees and teaching certification, and either are waiting for a teacher to die or retire, or feel grateful to avoid the hassle of teaching in today’s public schools. Districts save a ton of money giving ed techs responsibilities they used to pay teachers for.
What is an education technician? And you can wear a hat in class in high school? sounds more like a teachers assistant did something rather than a teacher. I imagine they make fun of the students when they know they are not around at all.
Sorry, I just don’t feel the oppression. Constitution says nothing about letting political statements pass without a reply.
“[T]he 16-year-old sophomore says he alerted school administrators on Friday when two adults who worked in the school made fun of him.”
It’ll be easier to rat out the grownups after President Trump stations a Drümpfenbund troop in every school.
