Discussion: Stormy Daniels Lawyer: She Was 'Physically Threatened' To Stay Silent

So here’s a question: was it just the possibility of more money that made Daniels decide this was a good time to break the NDA? Or did the threats make her think that the best defense was a good offense?

Is that Bart the Bear? I love Bart the Bear (I know he is dead and the family that raised HIM are raising his grandson as well, but grandson I think is not as easily worked with). MORE Bart the Bear!

It certainly would be a line crossed, though he’s crossed so many what’s one more? I understand the lawyer not wanting to say mucj with the “60 Minutes” interview being aired (one hopes) next Sunday. I think at some point a portion of Trump’s base is becoming tired of the continual drama. Just 80,000 or so in the key states is enough and the PA-18 result suggests it’s already more than that…

Since it appears this NDA was signed by Stormy Daniels in California and it appears California law may be applicable, I’m wondering if some California Assembly or California State Senate committee can get involved and bring in Stormy Daniels under a subpoena to testify?
I’m pretty sure the terms of an NDA can be abrogated under a subpoena from Congress, so why not a state legislature? Assuming of course they can find legitimate legal pretext to bring her in.

It would be great if California could teach these blowhards a lesson about screwing with us.

Why would everyone assume that an adult film actress would have low credibility? I’m not seeing the line or reasoning which seems so obvious to people …

Although to be fair, I’ve always had reason to doubt a president’s credibility, but I’ve never had reason to doubt a porn star’s, they always do what they say they’re gonna do.

I think she’s going to blow peoples’ minds in the 60 minutes segment (sorry could not resist - promise, it’s the president rubbing off on me…aghghgh… couldn’t resist again). At any rate, keep in mind, she did seriously contemplate a congressional run some time back. From what I gather, she’s also parlayed her role in the adult industry from performer to director, which I suspect is not typical. By all accounts, she ought not be judged by her chosen profession. I suspect she’ll be very credible.

Not obvious to me - there’s no relation between making adult films and not being believable. If she hasn’t been caught lying then there is nothing wrong with her veractiy.

Every element of this tawdry, classless story screams exactly what Trump is all about. He’s a serial womanizer. A liar. Obsessed with proving his virility. His M.O. is cheating people, making them sign NDAs, bullying, and trying to feed his insatiable need for self-gratification. Stormy has pics, audio, video and maybe…gross as this is…DNA on Trump. Gonna be a rough road for the Orange Fecal Bolus.

God I certainly hope so. He’s earned that rough road a thousand times over.

You know how ‘some’ people get aggressive and unpleasant when they are drunk? And you wonder if that’s the ‘real’ them? And you know, yeah, it IS. But that most of us ‘have’ unpleasant thoughts and let them go but when drunk we don’t think about hurting the other person. The drunk ‘always’ thinks they are funny.

Anyway, Michael Cohen strikes me as ‘that guy’ but ‘that guy’ who’s drunk all the time and does not care about what he is saying.

I wonder if Cohen could be arrested for making ‘terroristic threats’ because now Avenatti has SIX other women who searched him out (I think because he appears to be a competent counsel) and guess what? FOUR of these women don’t have NDAs!

Boy, 60 Minutes is going to have a HUGE audience NEXT Sunday!

Cohen has been known to threaten people physically before, so my bet’s on him. I wonder when the NY State Bar is going to notice how many ethical violations he has.

I wonder what bizarre thing Trump will be doing just before 60 minutes on the 25th. It will have to be pretty spectacular.

At least some of the threats, we are told, preceded the contract:

Avenatti also suggested in his interview with CNN anchor Chris Cuomo that Daniels had signed the nondisclosure agreement under threat, although he once again did not elaborate further.

“That’s one thing, [she] says, ‘I want to — I’m going to speak unless we can figure out a deal.’ Fine, legal, as long as it wasn’t being coercive,” Cuomo posed to Avenatti. “If it was, ‘well, I have to do this because I’m afraid if I don’t do it, something will happen to me because that has been articulated,’ that’s something else. Which was it?”

“Something else,” Avenatti replied, suggesting that Cuomo’s second scenario was the correct one.

Trump’s longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, did not immediately respond to an email asking for comment.

Hummm—-

If she was physically threatened, can’t she now claim she entered into the alleged agreement and took the $130,000 under duress?

Exactly.

Let’s see . . . to recap:

1, Daniels alleges that she had an affair with a married Donald Trump which began soon after the birth of Barron;
2. On the eve of the election, pursuant to an NDA, Trump’s personal attorney paid Daniels $130,000 for her silence about the alleged affair with Trump;
3. More recently, a lawyer with the Trump organization was listed as counsel of record in the ex-parte arbitration proceeding that was filed seeking to enforce the NDA;
4. But Trump denies ever having an affair with Daniels, and further denies knowing anything about the payment or the NDA.

Um, yeah . . . one of these things is not like the others . . .

Then again, there’s this lovely fellow–

Trump Lawyer Marc Kasowitz Threatens Stranger in Emails: ‘Watch Your Back, Bitch’
After hearing Rachel Maddow discuss our recent story about Kasowitz, a man emailed the attorney urging him to resign. Kasowitz responded with threats and profanity.

And in Fire and Fury, Steve Bannon supposedly said that it was Kasowitz (I think) who paid off or took care of a hundred women.

Maybe, just maybe, this is her moment in the international spotlight that she cannot resist stepping into.

Trump craves continual attention and approval and the power he feels it gives him. Stormy too craves attention and power. Approval? Not so much. And she is now entering the history books. That’s a LOT of attention. And power. She has the POTUS twisting in the wind here. Not bad.

She is actually the perfect person to help bring Trump down. She can belittle his masculinity, rub his ugly orange face in his lies and bullying, blast his sexist crap all over the media, and focus a laser on Trump’s fawning hypocritics on the evangelical right.

Plus, she may be able to prove he broke a bunch of laws. Though I do think Mueller has that covered. Personally, I’m just all in on the humiliation piece.

Go Stormy!!!
