Discussion: Stormy Daniels Lawyer: Parking Lot Threat Connected To Trump Organization

I hope this guy has something up his sleeve other than a talent for busting balls.

This threat was made to Daniels seven years ago. Unless there’s something she or her attorney isn’t telling us, she’s never been harmed or assaulted in any way as a result of that threat. PP and his thugs have done far worse things to her since this story started unfolding, including imposing a $20 million penalty if she kept talking.

Asked if he had any evidence tying Trump or his lawyer, Michael Cohen, to the threat, Avenatti said ā€œother than common sense, no.ā€

Well, common sense plus the Russian accent.

Actually I don’t see how anything could be worse than threatening the life of her baby…

Threatened her, not the baby.

ā€˜That’s a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.’

She said during the interview that she accepted a hush deal at a low price precisely because of the threat. Only recently has she decided to fight them. So the alternate perspective is she has been acting out of fear based on the threat for seven years.

Prominent by it absence is any recent, high profile public statement by Melania Trump that she fully believes her husband did not engage in anything either Daniels or McDougal has accused him of.

ā€œNo, it wasn’t this guy. Geez, I dunno, but I kinda think I’d remember him.ā€

And in this ring of the shit-show-circus we’ve got T-rumpus’ thug lawyer’s even more thuggy lawyer sending cease and desist letter for references made to yet another thug.

How’s your mother? Did you do some ironing last night? :grinning:

I am not sure what state the parking lot incident occurred, but in California it would be both a crime and a civil tort. Making direct threats on the life of someone’s child is pretty darn serious.

Heather Digby Parton - has a great sum up of this in her blog - and I think the story is in Salon but there is now a pay-wall and Salon was often way ā€˜out there’ IMO.

Here’s part of what Digby said:
"This isn’t just idle tabloid curiosity. Donald Trump could not pass a background check to work as a security guard at the Mall of America, much less the White House. It is clear that he has paid hush money to people and worked in concert with friends to keep them quiet. All of this can only lend more credibility to the suspicion that he might be subject to blackmail by other people, beyond the women with whom he’s had sex.

Who knows? It might even be a foreign government or two."

One thing that is purely stunning to me – that has rattled around in my brain – that donald couldn’t pass a background check. Perhaps new laws should be put in place that candidates for the presidency should pass background checks AND release tax returns. (Mitt? his was a bit late after amended right – he didn’t want all his wealth to be on disply, donald? – still waiting).

The blackmail factor, the pay out factor and the thuggery – how’s about a duck test? (If it walks like a duck, if it quacks like a duck, if it looks like a duck…)

Any contract entered under duress isn’t valid --> amirite? Any lawyerly minds that would care to weigh in.

Maybe so, but really, have we not spent enough time on the details of this sordid affair and Ms. Daniels’ deepest fears while letting PP skate on what it is he’s failing to do as President of the United States. I watched the interview in the same way I watch a ten-car pileup on the interstate.

@exspectator It happened in Las Vegas. No one was harmed. The threat seems to have its intended effect. But I’m not sure that this kind of threat would be taken seriously by law enforcement. ā€œOfficers, I man I’ve never seen before said something to my daughter which sounding threatening. Can you find him, arrest him and prosecute him?ā€

@nightshadow What would be worse if this thug or a pal actually harmed the child or her. Neither one happened.

I’m just marveling at what’s admittedly obvious here—you have a porn star turned director and an entertainment lawyer you’ve never heard of, just a couple of smart, tough people out in the world, not big famous types, and they’re tying the President of the United States in knots day after day. They’re smacking him like piƱata and he just has to take it. No heart, that’s his problem, no guts or brains for fighting. In every serious conflict it’s just glaringly obvious.

She’s in pain, but doing better. Yes, I showed up at hospital at 6 this morning properly shaved, starched and ā€œpresentable.ā€

Trumpp should have a pretty good idea whether or not Avenatti has anything of substance, and you don’t see Trumpp trying to call a bluff here.

Trumpp is at a loss for how to deal with this situation. If he was Putin, there would be some suspicious deaths, but this matter has extremely high visibility and Trumpp doesn’t have Putin’s firm grip on all elements of government and the media. Trumpp’s usual tools (threats, payoffs, aggressive legal action, bludgeoning with a media megaphone, riling up his supporters, etc.) have either been brushed aside by Daniels and Avenatti, or are not useful or available to a President dealing with a matter already in the public eye.

The press liaison for the First Lady has issued a statement:

ā€œThe First Lady would like to assure the American people, and the President, that she has full confidence in him, and, despite what the Fake News might be reporting, she has absolutely no plans to engage the services of a hot shot divorce attorney that’ll run rings around Cohen and Kasowitz, and seek redress and relief in Family Court. No plans at all. Reallyā€.
