I weep.

I am also furious that my African American, Jewish and Muslim friends worry constantly that they will be attacked n their houses of worship also. The world is diseased by white fear.

I find it incredibly difficult to read stories like this, but it must be done. Because these people were not mere numbers or victims of a horrific act of barbarity; but real people -just like us -with hopes, dreams, accomplishments, and family and friends who treasured them. At some point, we need to say never again and take real action against guns and the hate emanating from white supremicists. To do anything else is to suggest we’re not really bothered by what just occurred…yet again. You cannot say you value life, then rub your hands impotently claiming nothing can be done.

Also in contrast to the “thoughts and prayers” and nothing else following massacres here, the NZ PM realizes she must act and will.

I haven’t read them yet. I’m selfishly afraid of the emotional pain that I will feel.

Hopefully, I’ll be braver tomorrow.
