“Democrats folded on the shutdown…”

So that’s TPM’s position, is it Ms. Sneed?

In their effort to continue dismantling Obamacare, the Republican continuing resolution does not include funding for community clinics and private hospitals that care for large numbers of low-income patients,” Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) told me. The impact of this budgetary slight was made plain by one of her constituents in an email she shared with me.

Wanted to touch base about CR that doesn’t include health Center funding. St. John’s will lose 10% of our budget ($8.4 million a year). We’ll have to close 6 of our 15 clinics in your district.

It’s also self defeating to fund CHIP but not health centers since most kids with CHIP receive their care at community health centers. So they may have CHIP but they won’t be able to access services because their Health Center is closed.

Well at the moment it does appear that way I mean what did they gain by this? We all know mcturtle won’t keep his word so I hope the dems have a plan for that when he does

OT but Kelly maybe gone soon. I hope Miller is next.

I expect this dog and pony show will simply be repeated again in a month. I do remember, once upon a time, when our national legislature actually did its job and passed a yearly budget. Long ago, and far away.

Lighten up folks, from all the moaning, you’d think we’d gotten the 2016 election stolen from us.

The CR just puts us that much closer to the 2018 mid-terms, and Mueller-fest…

The fact remains that the CHIP funding was there from the beginning. So why the shut down, we didn’t get a thing

So what hostages do the republicans have left? If the democrats can get even one of their priority items met every three weeks till midterms, that would be remarkable progress.

Nothing “stayed” on the table is the problem. Trying to negotiate with the GOP is like playing whack-a-mole blindfolded… Remember the Dem’s are going up against three (3) branches of government, all held captive by the GOP. Sometimes you just gotta pick your battles. The longer this dragged out, the more the chance that the blame game would start to stick on the Dems.

Well that is the problem. It seems to me that the Dems went in with an empty hand and they knew it.

Wasn’t suggesting that it wasn’t a problem, just saying the Dem’s were up against a heavily stacked deck, and a concurrent GOP alt-fact rat-fucking extravaganza. Live to fight another day.

Liar, liar pants on fire.If the Democrats believe McConnel then they are going to find themselves in the same predicament next time. McConnel lied about the Supreme Court nominee, he lies about what he is going to do next and he never keeps his promises. But . . . he is a good partner for #45 who has all the same attributes, if not the same cunning. The Democrats will find themselves holding the bag again in 3 weeks time and the DACA recipients will not have their status guaranteed and meanwhile ICE is deporting as many people as they can as fast as they can. The U.S. is no longer a democracy and on top of that it is ruled by a nut case.

Just keep thinking “Blue Tsunami” this November, folks, swept along by a helluva lot of pink hats…

Very bad optics for sure.

Three weeks. That’s all.

If shit’s not together in three weeks then I suspect there will be another shutdown. Not only would it be justified, that event of itself would amplify the idea that McConnell and Trump are not reliable negotiators. Heck, even Susan Collins could even agree with that.

As for the New Republic story about Kelly and Miller garnering unwelcome attention –I welcome their termination. But then, who would be president? I shudder at the thought. As for Stephen Miller, I hope he is shit-canned while he is shitting in the can. That would make me laugh out loud.

Gop is going to need a vacation for 2 weeks and 6 days to recoup after all the hard work
When they get back they can pick up where they left off, bashing democrats though the next shutdown.
Why don’t dems ever learn? Good guys always come in last.
Just sometimes being the bad guys will get you farther down the road quicker.
Ask a turtle. Smile, lie, agree and when you succeed, screw the other guy. It’s been his MO for like forever.

Democrats folded on the shutdown…

I expect this kind of bullshit language from the NYT these days, not TPM.
