So this really encapsulates what’s wrong with the democratic party. We have the default geriatric candidate, Clinton, who the right hates and nobody on the left really likes. She’s a tool of big donors and a neo liberal and she has a genius for giving her opponents sticks to hit her with. And the alternative is a geriatric also ran who proved in the pas he was a terrible campaigner. He’s the tool of Delaware credit card companies, who he protected from bankruptcy laws. Man of the people indeed.
Ugh. What a great range of choices.
why I’m voting Bernie. he’s also geriatric, but at least I like his message
And yet 8 years ago everything was all just peachy with the Democratic Party, remember? That knight in shining armor, young, virile, liberal warrior Obama came riding in to rescue the Party and the nation. And how long did it take the same people singing his praises to turn on him, sitting around sites like this bitching about how Obama the turncoat sold 'em out. I voted for Obama, twice, and I still support him. And I’ll be happy to vote for Clinton now, the reason being that I know far too well how things work in DC to think anyone who can make it through the primaries and general election system in this country can shake things up as much as anyone projects upon them. After all, isn’t that exactly what these Trump voters think is going to happen? In my estimation, the first and most important contribution that the next Democratic president can make to bettering our nation is to marginalize as much as possible the unhinged GOP. I think Obama has done a terrible job at that, frankly. And I think that Hillary, after decades of all the shit she’s taken from those goons, will do a better job of doing some Republican asskicking from the White House. That’s reason enough for me.
The laws of political gravity are not repealed because the cause of a late start – if he should choose to run – is the tragic loss of his son. Commitments will already been made and resources distributed.
The media’s real problem with Hillary is that she talks policy wonk and they want sound bites. To cover Hillary properly, they’d have to work and they don’t want to do that.
So she has an unsurmountable lead, they can’t catch her with or without Biden in the race. As a Hillary supporter and a woman, it is hard to consider Biden. Could go with Sanders but his record is stellar as far as his stands on the issues but he has seldom taken a stand and seen it through to a passed piece of legislation. It’s called the dirty work of needed compromise and scrounging for consensus.
No. To a certain extent, it really doesn’t matter which Dem gets the WH (and, yes, it does HAVE to be a Dem) if the Rethugs still control both houses of Congress. I’m not convinced she has much in the way of coattails. Also, HRC isn’t doing any GOP asskicking. That’s not her style. Her latest press conference on the e-mail debacle was awful. Just awful. She came across as dismissive and disengaged from the situation. While I think there are some progressives that think that’s the way to handle the press in general, I think it comes across very poorly to the public at large who aren’t tuned into they ways of progressives.
“For starters, it would be received bitterly by the many Democratic women who figured HRC’s final assault on the political glass ceiling was a natural follow-up to Obama’s historic presidency.”
It would also be recieved bitterly by folks like myself who would have eagerly embraced a Biden candidacy if he had announced it earlier. I would add, that I posted numerous times last year and earlier this year, that one of the reasons Hillary waited so long to announce was out of deference to Joe Biden as the sitting VP and Pres. Obama,as the man who nominated her for SOS. Announcing earlier was against protocol and would’ve put Pres. Obama in an impossible position, just as it would if Biden announced now. Let’s not forget that in 2008,after Hillary conceded, she and WJC jumped in feet first for then-Sen. Obama and WJC did the same for Pres. Obama in 2011-2012 too and it helped a lot.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard geriatric used a slur until now. With any luck you’ll reach that point too, and you won’t think of it as a slur, just a high number attached to your own corpus and you’ll wonder how that happened.
Thanks for a piece on Hillary that looks at the total issue and not the zizag hype. She is insurmountable! She can’t win! She is being investigated for a crime! Populace is tired of the Clinton scandals! All of it lies and wishful, manuplative speculation.
I too voted for Obama twice and plan to vote for Hillary. Where I differ is Obama’s marginalizing of the GOP. It has taken a while but it is happening now. They will not win the WH and lose the senate. But for their vote suppression and gerrymandering, they would not have the House.
Well as a professional woman of about Hillary’s age, I will not be happy if Joe decides to run. I have a lot of respect for him personally and I think he has done a good job as VP, but he has run twice before without much success, so why would the result be any better this time? Yes, some people will do anything to stop Hillary from being elected; I just hope Joe Biden is not one of those people. I have no problem with Bernie Sanders running. His message and background are different enough to be a reason to run. Joe, not so much.
