Sometimes I see a little twinkle in Adam Schiff’s eye and it makes me think he’s actually being dryly humorous when he says these things. They’ve got Stone’s slimy hide nailed to the barn door, and the above is to me, at least, a pretty funny understatement.

Witness tampering is not a process crime, nor is it inconsequential. Stone’s threats of physical violence against witnesses and their pets is a serious crime in its own right carrying a 20 year sentence. Since Stone made death threats, he is unlikely to get less than ten years.
Add in the lying to the FBI and it is unlikely Stone will leave prison alive unless he cops a plea and co-operates. And that is just on the first set of charges. It is obvious that a lot more charges will follow.

Agree wholly. The Feds are clearly wielding a massive stick over his head, holding a lot in reserve to ‘encourage’ him to cooperate.

And as Paul M learned all too well, cooperating means cooperating, not going through a charade of cooperating while continuing to lie and engage in witness meddling and continuing to generally scam and angle for a pardon.

I have to say I’m glad the GOP noise machine doesn’t run the legal system yet, because they couldn’t be more dismissive of “process crimes,” as they love to say. The prevailing attitude seems to be that if you commit a crime in the course of maybe committing another yet unproven crime, the maybe-crime and the known crime somehow water each other down to the point you’ve hardly committed a crime at all.

I disagree with that whole meme about his Nixon tattoo being something dangerous to him in prison. I’d bet a vast population of current prison population either doesn’t know who Nixon was or too young to remember Watergate or just won’t care because so many of them have plenty of bizarre tats of their own.
