Discussion: Stewart Rips Iraq War-Believing Media For Hounding Brian Williams (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #233074

This is the non-stories of non-stories. You can hear worse every day at every VFW hall in America. Given the way the human memory works I am not sure Williams didn’t believe what he said each of he three interviews.

If the American media had done their “jobs” maybe there would have been no “wars” for Mr. Williams to “report” from.

The media often reserve their most breathless, intensive coverage for stories about… wait for it… the media. In their minds, this kind of inside baseball is of paramount importance. Wars, famine, disease? Who cares? It’s the way it’s covered that’s most important.

It’s odd, though. Some they cover for, some they go after like rabid weasels. Makes one think a certain level of accumulated animosity or jealousy is involved.

Brian Williams is the only place to get solid unadulterated news in the evening. Period. So they should just drop the rope and pursue stories of the REAL problems and challenges this country faces right now. The “cable entertainment news bobbleheads” have the constitutional protections in order to ensure that the American citizenry have the facts and truth on substantive issues and they are NOT doing that. Chucky on MTP admitted that if he challenges the veracity of the politicians they won’t come on his show. So entertainment value is more important than facts to these jokers but they want to run Williams out of town for recollection problems in a war zone. They all need a reality check.

“Never again will Brian Williams mislead this great nation about being shot at in a war we probably wouldn’t have ended up in if the media had applied this level of scrutiny to the actual fucking war,” he added.

Jon is going to give Judge Silberman a sad.

Newsflash. The ‘media’ is a capitalist enterprise. They make their money, much like this website, by simply seducing you to watch(or click). It is ALL about seduction. Every single bit of it. I have defined 5 variations on the anti-pattern of seduction, which can occur in almost any creative endeavor:

The Seduction of Elegance
The Seduction of Beauty
The Seduction of Novelty
The Seduction of Horror (or moral outrage)
The Seduction of Eros

Phenomena that exhibit these properties may or may not have something of value to offer. Sometimes not. Many times not. Sometimes there is nothing there. It was all illusion. You had nobody to tie you to the mast, or plug your ears with wax. Most human beings (myself included) have little ability to resist. We are ALL rubber-neckers. The big question is how to avoid having this innate vulnerability exploited to advance the agenda of others, that offers you nothing but flickering lights, the aroma of steak on the grill, the sound of the sizzle. They never actually serve you dinner. But they made you look, didn’t they. You may have even salivated. Ca-CHING.

In the final analysis, the problems of Brian Williams, and his memory, don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.

Good for him! I don’t watch Fox news (nobody should) but I usually did check Huffington Post. But Huffington Post has really turned into a “rag” - as bad as the worst of Murdoch! Huffington Post should stick to side boobs stories; they have lost any credibility as journalists!!! Good for Mr Stewart!!!

Maybe it’s just me and in no small part because I have indeed lost faith in all network media, but I don’t see what the big woo is. I just don’t know that it’s that big a deal… all the networks, including Brian Williams’ own NBC, all the cables, with very few exceptions…didn’t even ask questions. They never even questioned why were invading THE WRONG COUNTRY. They were cheerleaders in this war of choice and lies and NOW, now there’s a problem when when an anchor tells a story about something that didn’t happen? Hells bells… I’m not taking up for him I guess when it really comes down to it, I’ve lost faith that can’t be regained in any of these network knuckleheads to tell the truth about any GD thing.

John, you can’t handle the truth!

Another thing he’s right about: if your not over 70 you don’t give a fuck about NBC/FOX/CNN/CBS/ABC teevee news anyway (looking at you, TPM).

I especially like “twaddle”…

'Cuz the old networks are super good at blurring, switching, temporizing and baiting mainly due to the whispery, illegal domestic slithering of a certain movie-famous agency during the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s and so the “big woo” doesn’t appear so big in our national rear-view mirror. But, for the old networks, the biggest of the invisible woos are the vanishing eyeballs and their cash and this loss provokes the latest crying jag.

Two wrongs don’t make a single right. Brian Williams and his willingness to over embellish (being kind here) is all on Brian Williams. The fact that he never did due diligence regarding bush’s war of choice is a different and separate strike against Williams and the whole damned industry.
Lumping all of his incompetence and dishonesty together in an attempt to get a quick pass for all past egregiousness is also insulting.

If you don’t think about the facts that Brian Williams is a real news stretcher/embellisher and phony reporter tool, then he’s right there on top of the rest of the dregs.

With a Porsche…

Trying to outrun the truth I suppose. He’s in some sort of crisis and the Porsche, if he really has it, is the giveaway.
