Being a member of the House doesn’t give Stockman the right to ignore or to only partially comply with a federal court subpoena.

Translation: Even though we’re all law and order when it comes to the po’ folks, we’re pretty sure we’re supposed to get some kind of special deal …

Stockman said in a statement read out by a clerk on the House floor that he was meeting with lawyers “to determine whether and to what extent compliance with the subpoena is consistent with the privileges and rights of the House,” as quoted by the Chronicle.
