As a good Christian, would Steve King be willing to renounce Mosaic Law (the laws of Moses as described in the Biblical books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy)? Much of Mosaic Law is as incompatible with our Constitution as are many parts of Sharia. Would King condone the selling of his children into slavery? Would he favor having a rebellious son stoned to death, and similar punishments for a woman who has premarital sex (note, not a man), false prophecy, working on the Sabbath, negligent care of an animal, and many other âabominationsâ such as eating shellfish. I doubt it.
The modern world, Christian, Muslim, others, and the non-religious, have reasonably left behind much of the more brutal and archaic commands of both Mosaic and Sharia and many other ancient laws in search of a more just world. Clearly Mr.King and his fellow travelers missed that bus.
King did not fully embrace Trumpâs widely-condemned plan, telling TPM: "I wouldnât be willing to adopt that specific policy, but I am willing to debate the merits of it, and I think we should."

Steven King wouldnât know sharia law if it bit him on the ass. Seriously. Somebody should walk up and quote passages from the Old Testament and the Koran. He couldnât tell them apart. Iâm a Christian, for the most part. Kingâs idea of Christian law is far more terrifying to me than Sharia law, and by a mile. Thereâs -0% chance that Sharia law will ever be implemented in the US in my lifetime. With folks like Steve King running around and controlling Congress, Kingâs version of Christian law is an exponentially bigger threat and sometimes that threat seems pretty imminent.
What a moron. One can voluntarily subscribe to the rules and bylaws of an organizationâa church, a school, a company or the local Elks lodgeâthat are stricter than legal statutes.
There are rules in Congress that, for example, restrict speaking timeâwhen will Rep King renounce congressional laws that clearly conflict with the First Amendment?
So Iâm guessing that King would tell those âChristiansâ demanding âreligious freedomâ that they must renounce âChristianâ law and follow the law of this country. They should stop protesting against abortion, stop protesting agains Planned Parenthood, stop ignoring the law that saws homosexuals and lesbians are allowed to get married. I didnât hear King telling Kim Davis to get of her horse and carry out the law of the land no matter what her âreligious lawâ tells her. People like King donât really think their statements through to the logical conclusion. If religious law is wrong for some, it is wrong for all.
Iâm waiting for him to call on the Jewish members to renounce Kosher laws, and defund government supported food inspectors for Kosher and Halal products.
