Discussion: Steve King, Ted Cruz Unveil Bill To Revoke Citizenship Of Terror Suspects

Discussion for article #232439

Can we start with Bill and Ted and their Excellent Adventure shooting birds that somebody tied to the ground so they could hit them?

There is no room for bird torturers in America.

This wouldn’t be potentially subject to all kinds of political abuse…no no…let’s get out the toboggan, grease it up and get a good runnin’ start at that there slope…

Never anything positive. Always something punitive. Sicko clowns.

Aside from its punitive nature, what is this going to accomplish?

And why are these “suspects” not given the basic, constitutionally-guaranteed “innocent until proven guilty” protections afforded every suspect under US law?

This is just political masturbation—which is all either of these two neo-fascist thugs is capable of doing.

Can we strip citizenship from mouth-breathing Canadian anchor babies?

These guys really can’t seem to propose any kind of positive legislation, you know, that would actually benefit Americans. Jobs, fixing the infrastructure, educational opportunities, health care for more people, decent wages…

It’s “Fear, fear, fear!” 24/7.

I’m sure they get a good laugh out of their little games, too. So funny. So very funny.

Well, given that the two of them are well known vociferous advocates for finding a way to revoke the citizenship of Americans born on U.S. soil if their parents are illegal immigrants, plain language of the 14th Amendment and multiple ironies of Cruz’s Canadian citizenship and Cuban immigrant ancestry notwithstanding, it’s perfectly clear what tent the camel is trying to poke its nose into.

Wouldn’t we be safer when somebody does something criminal putting them in prison? Oh, I get it, we are going after people whose sin is joining a bad organization, no actual criminal acts required.

Am I the only one who sees how bad this could turn out?

It’s a two-fer. First you revoke their citizenship without a trial. And then since they’re not citizens, they have no rights and you throw them in Gitmo for life without a trial. Win-win!

There’s only only problem with that.

Anyone on US soil is entitled to all the protections of the US Constitution.

Steve King, Ted Cruz Unveil Bill To Revoke US Citizenship Of Terrorist Affiliates

Much as I like the idea of revoking US citizenship for Republicans and Fox News pundits, I don’t think that will really stop them from terrorizing the rest of the country.

Plus, you know, taking away citizenship over one’s political beliefs probably raises Constitutional Issues.

What? What do you mean they’re not talking about Republicans and Fox News when they talk about Terrorist Affiliates? What US Citizens are more terrifying?

That’s a vision I could do without. I think I’d rather be blind.

Why should it apply to “foreign” terrorists only? Wouldn’t it make more sense to apply to all “terrorist” organizations, including those which bomb abortion clinics and threaten violence against government agencies in the US? Just because that means about 20% of King’s and Cruz’s supporters will suddenly find themselves stripped of their citizenship shouldn’t surprise anyone. Let’em complain. Tell’em you gotta break some eggs to make an omelet, which is a good thing for all. Also tell them that it’s tough you thought it couldn’t happen to you.
