I think the Pope listens to his God, not idiots from Iowa.

The Pope should discuss “marriage and abortion” because they’re not political issues.

Whaaaaaat?

Pope’s views on marriage and abortion haven’t changed, King – you already know Pope Francis doesn’t go outside the Catholic doctrine on those issues. Climate change is a very real topic (surprise) and I’m sure the Catholic faith has something to say about how we’ve trashed the earth and its atmosphere. He looks like a dude who can juggle more than one or two balls at one time.

Shorter Steve King: “Your Holiness, please speak only on topics about which we can agree.”

Do these people EVER listen to themselves? Don’t answer that.

King must have issues with the bible and that Jesus guy too.

Matthew 6:24 ESV
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

James 5:1-6 ESV
Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. …

Luke 18:25 ESV
For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”

Luke 12:33 ESV
Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

Mark 12:41-44 ESV
And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

1 Timothy 6:17 ESV
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

Hebrews 13:5 ESV
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

1 Timothy 6:10 ESV
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

Acts 20:35 ESV
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

“We’ve heard some things from Pope Francis that are not fully supportive of free enterprise capitalism. That should be a problem from an American perspective,”

I’d argue that free enterprise capitalism is a problem from an American perspective.

Doesn’t the book of Genesis say something about God giving man the responsibility for the planet? How do these asshats reconcile that?

That’s the wimpy do-unto-to-others-as-you-would-have-them-do-unto-you Jesus scriptures.

The Gos$pel of the Pro$periterians follow the do-unto-to-others-before-they-do-unto-you Je$u$.

LOL. My guess is these grifters and snake-oil salesmen have “received” so very much that they’re banking on that equaling to ‘so very much’ blessings.

Yes, He commands man to be “good stewards” of the earth He hath provided. Today’s Republicans–and so many of today’s Libertarians–can not call themselves good Christians.

There is definitive science however for the proposition that any debate that has Steve King, Louie Gohmert, Inhofe and the oil industry all in agreement can only be improved even if the other side was moderately stupid, let alone includes a compassionate and genius pontiff.

Is there another Catholic Church, because I’ve never heard of this Pope Steve.

I think the Pope should add the topics of usury and price-gouging to his speeches about wealth inequality. He can use this sociopath as an example:

the problem is people become Christians before they actually read the bible.

King: “I want the Pope to talk about my politics, not issues of more significance to the world and to the poor.”

LOL. These guys are so fucking pissed that the Pope hasn’t arrived on our shores to chastise the heathen liberals, re-baptize our “Krischun Nashun” as “born again” and issue his official God’s-Infallible-Representative-On-Earth imprimatur to the GOP/Teatrolls’ policies and agenda…and is instead making them look like fools by talking about realities like climate change, the evils of plutocracy and wealth disparity and capitalism’s need for short, tight reins to prevent or fix the same.

And of course, articles about that are all over Faux and designed to elicit the “thanks Obamacare” ranting we all so love…
