Discussion: Stephen Colbert Has New Campaign Slogan For Donald Trump (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #240490

I’d almost like to see Trump elected to see how how fast he gets impeached.

By Republicans.

Trump’s lack of qualifications is a uuuuuuge deal, but don’t worry he will hire somebody really, really good to run the country.

Will Fiorina remind him that, while she may have been fired from HP, she never bankrupted it?
If Trump is measured by any standard of truth, he’s been a failure in ways that no other candidate could even survive and still remain a viable candidate. Trump’s a second-class billionaire to the wealthy fellows he has used just as conveniently as immigrants, Trump knows who to trash when he wants a visceral response from the xenos he’s tapped already.
But, since Trump has so opportunistically tweaked the xenophobe base, by coming right out of the gate full of hate, the media is quite willing to ride the ratings wave that his open bigotry and xenophobic vitriol has generated. They will tolerate his CEO bashing because of it, too. That is, until the REAL POWER BILLIONAIRES step in and cut him off at the xeno knees.
But that won’t happen soon…As long as Trump keeps the Citizens United madness machine broiling on high heat, the oldstream media will suck it up shamelessly and use it to exact even more easy ad revenue from the rest of the billionaires and CEO’s who have no intention of being used conveniently like some common wetback for Trump’s egomaniacal trashing of their tried-and-true process.
And it has only just begun.

I do not like that woman. I do not want her anywhere near any branch of government.

The Trump university fraud is still the subject of a $40 million lawsuit being pursued by NY AG

can’t agree more… but she may be the anti-trump they’ve been waiting for. If Trump is a pig to her face in the debates, he’ll gain on the pig vote but lose all the women…

I’d wager the list of Trump offenses is long and loud, but as long as the media gets its Citizens United money, they bwon’t go there. it will be up to the other candidates to flesh out The Dona;d’s transgressions, the media is too ripe with mad money to play their lost 4th Estate role any more.

I hope Hillary’s oppo research has this tidbit and all the rest of Trump’s financial misdeeds on file, ready for a barrage of ads.

We all know the press will studiously avoid the subject and continue to flood the airwaves with meaningless Trump bleats until someone (else) exposes him or he drops out.

Thanks to Anthropogenic Climate Change (ACC) and a strong El Nino there was quite a bit of rain here this year, after eight years of drought. The locals were commenting on seeing green again as the native grass and wildflowers took quick advantage of the moisture. The forests didn’t burn here at least so we were able to go camping without having to consider escape routes if a crown fire got started. It was very much unlike California and the Northwest states. In my particular neighborhood, there has been a Trumpishly huuuuuge increase in skunks this year, and their interaction with my two hound dogs has been what would be expected. Three times. So far.
Although my particular micro climate niche has seen an improvement this year it certainly does not mean global warming is not happening as the majority of our Congress claims to believe. The glaciers and the Greenland ice cap are melting at an accelerating rate. The temperature of the oceans is rising. The refugee crisis from Cheney’s Middle East adventures will be dwarfed when the glacier fed Ganges River dries up.
Realistically Hillary’s plan to encourage everyone to install photovoltaic panels wouldn’t make a bit of difference, as the rest of the developing world insists on their right to burn fossil fuels like we did. Trump and the Republicans on the other hand will certainly encourage the fossil industries to burn more carbon and speed along this irreversible process. For that matter exactly none of the Republican candidates will ever speak out against capitalism which continues to make short term profits by forcing ACC.

ACC is going to screw our kids, and our grandchildren will curse our inaction.

Here in San Francisco where we’ve had drought conditions for several years but have willingly cut back on water use, it rained for about five minutes yesterday. I do believe I saw parents pointing it out to young children who’d never seen rain before. Heavy rainfall because of the El Nino effect is predicted later this year. I hope the weather guys are right.

Some thoughts on California water solutions;

I’m all for opening up the rivers, take down the dams, and let those rivers flow.

But back in the backwaters, and out in some open territory, especially out in the central valley, California would do well to create some new water-impoundment lakes to hold some of that rainwater when it happens.

Not the kind that ruin streams and rivers, but the kind that can be tapped when the next drought occurs.

California doesn’t need to dam rivers to trap water, there’s an abundnce of available territory that could be used for the same prupose, without damming the rivers. But while the rain is falling, whatever they might do to retain it would be worth considering.

If ag producers were required to turn a portion of their property into wetlands, which they could tap when there is a drought, it would be good for everyone, except the short-term profiteers.

I’m really surprised we can hear Donald speak at all with both feet so deep in his mouth.

You may hit a paywall in this link, but there was a discussion of California water rights and how they were claimed a long time ago, and as far back as the Gold Rush in 1849. The system is still in place and creates a ranking system as to who gets how much and from where.
