Discussion: Stephanopoulos Won't Moderate GOP Debate After Clinton Donations

Discussion for article #236380

Considering that News Corp donated to the Bush Foundation, does this mean that Rand will likewise demand that no Fox pundits be involved as well?

Or is it a case of IOKIYAR?

This is actually a savvy move by George S. Thanks to his donation, he no longer has to sit through the parade of hateful dumbfuckery that will characterize the Republican debate. I’m sure his shrink is breathing a huge sigh of relief.

If I was George I would be hopping up for joy to not have to moderate a GOP debate. I am sure Bill Crystal or George Will would be happy to take his place.

I’m not a fan, but this already makes him a better person than George Will (not that that’s saying much).

At first I read it as Billy Crystal and thought “now THAT will be a fun debate” … but no, I’m so deflated … :frowning:

More than that: I’d bet Rupert Murdoch, and plenty of rich Romney supporters, have also donated to the Clinton Foundation. Be nice if someone could research that for future use: this shit isn’t going away.

News Corp, Newsmax and Donald Trump have all given to the Clinton Foundation. This whole “story” is such mindless crap… a CBS focus group with undecided independents found not only that they don’t care about it, but many think it’s a fake story being used as a bogus attack strategy (which, of course, it is).

In the end, I don’t believe idiocy like this will change a single vote. It’s lapped up by people who already hate all things Clinton. No one else will care.

Thanks for that about the focus group; hope the “mainstream media’s” appetite for these stories doesn’t cause that to change. And I dearly wish the set of “people who already hate all things Clinton” didn’t include so many who work at the New York Times.

Prince Rebus and the RNC probably already had the last word on who they found acceptable to moderate all of these GOP debates, and ABC’s first pick wasn’t about to make the cut anyway. I bet its written up in their bullshit set of debate rules, submitted to every forum that’s providing airtime for these things. To the RNC, its like the process of picking a jury.

If I was Snuffleupagus, I’d be relieved. I know you can’t see it…but he is smiling. Trust me.

LOL! I did the exact same thing

Once again, the Democrats show up to a Gun Fight with a pen knife.

Being owned by Disney, ABC has a very deep bench of talent to moderate the Republican debates, if they can just coordinate schedules with Goofy.

Same here, but then I saw George Will and had to do a double take.

A pen knife? If only. They show up with Emily Post’s book on etiquette.

Well, if ABC bows out there’s always NBC. But didn’t they pay Chelsea 600K salary for … writing copy or something. Of course there’s Fox News but that might be problematic. How 'bout Democracy Now with Amy Goodman? Or Jim Hightower.

Its Kristol of course…that’s what threw us all off.

The NYT has been anti-Clinton since the 90s. All they’re doing is damaging their own reputation at this point… making big deals with a “responsible” author who’s already had to issue “7 or 8 factual corrections” to his hate screed a week after publication. (He has a long history of making bogus claims he then has to retract… funny how the Times thought he was all over that partisanship thing now.)

The NYT hates her so much they ran an editorial praising her announcement of her stance on immigration, and they will also surely endorse her for president next year proving even more definitively they hate her…

With her speech on immigration in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Hillary Rodham Clinton took a large step forward, up front and to the left of President Obama. That is a good place to be for a presidential candidate who proposes to get the stalled debate moving again, and to bring hope to the millions living here outside the law.

Yup; we have them to thank for getting the whole Clinton “scandal machine” going with their debunked-but-never-retracted Whitewater “reporting.” Seems it’s in their DNA…
