Discussion: Stephanopoulos Apologizes On-Air: Clinton Donations Were A 'Mistake' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #236403

ā€˜What kind of an obsequious douchebag is this guy?’

ā€˜I don’t know, is there more than one kind?’

I always thought writing a backstabbing tell-all book while his boss, President Clinton was, you know, dealing with 8 levels of bullshit was the mistake. Although if you betray on purpose I guess it’s not a mistake. I hope getting accepted by the Village was worth it, asshole.

Yet FOX News is co-owned by a right-wing Australian Billionaire and a Saudi Prince and nobody says anything about them HOSTING Presidential debates?!?!?
Man. Liberals are morons. Always apologizing for PARTICIPATING in ā€œDemocracyā€ like it’s a bad thing.

To Republicans, donating to a charity that benefits people in other countries is a conflict of interest.

I agree that pundits and jornalists should shy away from donating and hobnobbing with political figures (i.e. David Gregory dancing with Rove) because there is a small chance that their involvement could be seen as trying to curry favors. However I just won’t summon any outrage in this case becaue I don’t feel what George did was particularly unique and if you’re going to call him out then let’s now start to call them ALL out.
I also don’t get why the right wingers were so intent on getting George removed as a moderator; he bends over backwards for Republicans and tends to do their bidding in repeating their talking points. I recall him soliciting questions from wingers to ask Sen. Obama during one of the debates. In fact, I see him being harder on Democrats and even the Clintons.

But whatever, he should be happy to not have to debate their circus freak show anyway.

NO! Your donations were not a mistake.

YOU, thinking you’re a journalist, now that’s a mistake!

He is such an ass-lick for the gop/bags.

I remember that debate, with him and that guy (where is he now) charlie. The audience booed them both for them being such dicks. It was nice to see!

I don’t have a problem with donations to the Clinton Foundation because it is legitimately a hard working charity. It gives immense sums of money to combat social and health issues world wide and isn’t a vanity charity to enrich or support the Clintons. This is hardly currying favor with the Clintons.

Stephanopoulos is a Liberal? I think you may need to dig out a dictionary.

Ha, you’re talking sense, that’s not allowed. We are ruled by fools who sling bullshit and it you want to be taken seriously you need to get on board with that.

And at the time he gave the Foundation the money for charity, no Clinton was running for political office. This is a bullshit issue, drummed up by the usual Rs trying to make something out of nothing…just because they can, and everyone lets them get away with it because that’s how kowtowed or in bed these corporations are in going along with the rightwing outrage machine.

Doesn’t sound like a ā€œmistakeā€ that he should have to apologize for. The contribution was made way before HRC even declared she was running unless you call the 3 years the networks speculated that shed run. Maybe a fabricated ā€œmistakeā€ on someones part…

The extreme irony of all this is that the same douchebags who think Citizen’s United was a good decision because it ain’t bribery if you give unlimited amounts to a campaign fund, which directly benefits the recipient, are all in a lather because people gave to a registered charity which by law cannot benefit the Clinton’s except any satisfaction they get from the good their charity does. Of course, logical and moral consistency was never the strong suit of conservatards.

WTF, donating to the foundation which does excellent work is a ā€œmistakeā€??? God Georgie, grow a backbone. Maybe you should have disclosed it, but here’s the thing, the foundation isn’t political. Never has been.

George simply could not stomach the thought of having to mediate a debate between the right wing mouth breathers ostensibly running for POTUS–a planned disqualification. The smartest thing he’s ever done.

well isnt that what the republicons are good at bullshit issues … someone does something decent like contribute to a charity that helps millions of people and the right demonizes them for doing so…and the dufus apologizes for it…arent balls available to the so called dems

You’d think the Clinton Foundation was a SuperPac from the way the beltway media are choosing to report this. That’s the ultimate false equivalency, especially with all the obscene amounts of dark money being given by billionaires giving to Republican candidates. Too bad they aren’t equally interested in investigating that as a corrupting influence, or reporting on their ad revenues from the Kochs for that matter. How is that not a conflict of interest? The hypocrisy continues…

It only makes sense when you consider this allows them another piece of ā€œevidenceā€ to flog that the media is controlled by liberals.

So much for having any backbone…
