Once again the POTUS and this administration are trying to bail out Republicans from their own dumb-fuckery.

Have no fear…they won’t thank him for this, like they do with everything that’s not his fault or under his control. Rather, this would be derided as strongarming and fascist, dictatorial extortion of the states and the leasing fees would be touted as blood money.
Or they could go with the current favored option with the Republican Study Commission. it’s called “Republicare.” It consists of sending everyone who can’t pay for a policy at market rates, including all Medicaid eligible people, a warehouse store supersized bottle of generic aspirin with an instruction sheet that advises young women to remove one tablet and hold between their knees and for the sick to take the remaining 749 tablets in a single dose.

The lease price should equal the states’ estimated cost of accepting the Medicaid expansion. If and when the state does accept it, the lease should be discounted to one dollar.
