Discussion: State Legislatures See Flurry Of Activity On Abortion Bills

I can’t recall, is there an election coming up? If so, might be worth going to the polls, folks.

If women and progressives really care about reproductive rights, they have to get it through their thick heads that those rights must be protected vigorously at the ballot box or they will be lost. The means voting for Democrats and against Republicans in EVERY election - including those boring off-year and local ones.

Isn’t strange that the family values party is against abortion but will allow children to be born into poverty ,
homelessness and disease and then try to take their medial benefits away?
They use them to fill the military ranks because if they get killed it is one less burden on the government.
If their families question their death or capture ,the most cowardly president in the history of our country will run them down and the rest of his party and backer will node in approval.
How many Bible thumpers and wingnuts are willing to adopt these children?
How many of these fine folks only have one or two children?
Do they stop having sex after they have the proper amount of children?

Of course - when all else fails, start on women and abortion to keep the idiots who vote for you from seeing all the goddamn crimes you’re committing.

yes, what’s your point?

25% of people want abortion to be legal in all cases.
33% want to limit abortion rights in some way (maybe including late term abortion? this question was not asked).
40% want to make abortion illegal in most to all cases.
So basically a sum of 73% want to limit access to abortion in some way at the very least.
If you look further the support for abortion among men and women differs by 3% only (we are not told if the support strength of the support differs).

And this is the current analysis of the “blue wave” from 538: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/what-happened-to-the-democratic-wave/

So to my, admittedly thick head, I can’t see how voting Dem ticket in all local and off-year elections will help liberalizing access to abortion when there is NO wide support for it?

Saving the Republic is going to be hard, maybe impossible. Changing public opinion on abortion is going to be much harder.

Let the American Taliban get their own house in order.

This whole argument against abortion is stupid on the face of it.

Our constitution states quite plainly that you are not a citizen of the United States until you are born. I will go further and state that you are not a human until you are born.

Fetuses have the potential to be fully functioning humans, but, we can’t really know that until they shoot the tube.

It’s a matter of property rights. That fetus is the sole property of the carrier. Now, if you believe, as most Republicans do, that property rights over-ride all other rights, well, the mother has the ultimate say of the disposition of her property.

And, you can’t have it both ways. You can’t restrict the rights of 50% of the adult population to make decisions about their own reproductive health, and not restrict the rights of the other 50%. I submit that all males who have showed a wanton disregard for the sanctity of their own bodies, by contracting an STD or impregnating one or more females without the benefit of marriage be castrated so that society doesn’t have to pay for their stupidity and immorality.

Let’s see how that flies with the “moral majority.”
