Discussion: State Attorney General: Three Govt Officials To Be Charged In Flint Water Crisis

The Sacrifice of the Lambs.

State GOP wants to control the cases. They’ll never bring charges against Snyder. DOJ is going to have to do that…and it fucking better.

PS: Why didn’t you name the AG until the 6th paragraph? That’s just silly.

You don’t know this.

Charges SO FAR. This disaster is far from over…

Laughable. Maybe the Gov should have some prison take-out to go with his borrowed water?

They’ll probably spend 10x more in legal fees than they saved in this deplorable act. Typical penny wise pound foolish GOP fiscal management.

After episodes like this and what we’re seeing in Kansas, how can anyone in the middle class vote for the GOP or claim they have their best interest in mind?

Scapegoating for the governor, who set the stage for this fiasco. He needs to be tarred, feathered and drown in Flint water.

I agree. It’s Michigan not Alabama. I wouldn’t doubt the Governor gave the sacrificial lamb option a shot but given what went down…folks died…I don’t that that’s going to square the mess with the folks in Michigan. It’s a big picture thing. Snyder opted to take control of Flint by deposing its elected officials. That’s Third World shit. The sycophants he placed in power, without consent of the people, took partisan driven political actions that killed folks and made kids sick. It’s hard to dispel the notion sloppy work was OK with the Gov since it was going to impact Black people.

A few misdemeanor convictions and stints of paid leave aren’t going to fix this.

Yes. Which might provide a bit of a fix for the leadership accountability problem. There’s a dead people problem too and this won’t touch it.

It’s about bloody time!

make that scapegoats

I want to see some ‘trickle-up’ .

Nothing to see here, no higher-level officials could possibly have been involved in any way, move along now.

Huh, Schuette is a loathsome political fuck. He is either doing this because it´s a move to further his future ambitions, it´s to find scapegoats, or it´s both.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Two state regulators and a Flint employee were
charged Wednesday with evidence tampering and several other felony and
misdemeanor counts related to the Michigan city’s lead-tainted water
crisis.
…
Any idiot who would put drinking water thru a lead pipe ought to be strung up , tarred 'n feathered and forced to drink that water!
That lead was toxic was known to the ancient Romans. So, ignorance of this fact is no excuse:

Therefore laying lead pipes in Flint should have been a criminal act from the get go. Those pipes have been in the ground for decades. They need to be replaced with nontoxic pipes NOW, not after somebody goes to prison.

There is no safe level with regard to Lead exposure

“Lamb” conveys the meaning of innocence… I don’t think that applies any to any of these guys. They tampered with evidence, whether they did it on their own initiative or because a higher up ordered and they are brownoses is irrelevant.

That state attorney general did nothing more than prove he is a pompous ass when he held his press conference. The three men he is “charging” will never spend a day in court, nor should they. Unless the federal government brings charges against those who really are responsible, no justice will ensue.

The pipes worked fine with water that was not acidic. If the water is kept at a high pH, non-acidic, it can’t dissolve lead into it. Even copper piping requires that the water be kept non-acidic, for the same reason. Of course lead pipes are a bad idea, and they should be replaced, but that was not the problem in Flint. Flint’s problem is the Republicans who run the government, who arbitrarily took charge of Flint, with a single person in charge, who was there solely to serve the governor’s interests, and the single person most at blame is Snyder. This whole episode demonstrates that voting for Republicans can be suicidal move.
