Another principled giant. Love you Bruce
Way to go Boss Bruce!
(Of course, I didn’t have tickets, so that’s easy for me to say).
Bruce remains an American Patriot, hopefully money will get the republican bigots to strike down this law and their voter suppression law.
This cancellation will certainly draw attention in NC, especially when thousands of disappointed fans start complaining to thousands of others.
On the other hand, I read that an NFL owners meeting in Charlotte will still go on as scheduled – because billionaires!
Bruce, Bruce.
They’re trying to talk Chris Christie off the GWBridge. Tune in at 11.
“Dozens of companies, including PayPal and Google, denounced the law and several state and local governments banned all official travel to North Carolina.”
So, North Carolina, how’s that pro-business, job-creating, GOP thingy workin’ out for ya?
Never been a Springsteen fan, but still I gotta say: Bravo! And Thank You.
Kudos to a legend and a very long time supporter of gay rights, marriage equality …etc. quite openly for more than 20yrs I’ve seen in several articles. A longtime straight ally to the LGBT community who isn’t afraid to advocate for what is right! ~applause!~
This interesting piece from 2012 on HuffPo:
Bruce Springsteen has been an outspoken advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights for some time, but now “The Boss” has gone a step further by starring in a social media push for marriage equality. The 63-year-old rocker is the star of a new campaign by The Four 2012, which is focused on passing same-sex marriage ballot measures in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington this November. After quoting former New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine’s earlier description of marriage equality as “a civil rights issue that must be approved to assure that every citizen is treated equally under the law,” Springsteen notes in the ad, “I couldn’t agree more with that statement and urge those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now.”
once again proving why he IS THE BOSS…
Once again the Boss proves his creds being Born in the U.S.A.
Not that he necessarily needs the dough, but Bruce is foregoing significant income by canceling an arena show. He is putting his money where his mouth is. Gotta love it. Gotta say that if I were a fan in Greensboro, I would think his move was pretty damn cool.
Good for him. It’s the right thing to do.
Oh my god, comments loaded three times in a row.
Ken White at popehat usually has an interesting take on legal matters. This is on Mississippi’s law:
Mississippi’s bill does not “allow anyone to discriminate against
anyone,” as it’s been inaccurately described in the media. For the most
part it only says that, if Mississippi or its cities ever had any laws
protecting gays from discrimination, religious organizations and wedding
vendors in Mississippi wouldn’t have to follow them.
However, the spectacle of a state law that chooses very specific
religious doctrines and elevates them above other doctrines and beliefs
is very disturbing. As I read it, in Mississippi, a public employee
could be fired for saying “discriminating against gay marriage is a sin
against God, who wants us to love one another,” if the disruptive effect
of saying that outweighed the employee’s speech. But the same public
employee could not be fired for saying “gay marriage is a sin against
God,” even if the same balancing test showed that its disruptive impact
outweighed the employee’s speech rights. That’s just freakish. It’s
not the rule of law.

Those backwards-ass Koch-fellating “Christian” Teabagging American Taliban NC-GOP politicians have literally no idea of the beat-down they are about to experience.
Only because it’s a load imbalance.
Too bad things like this won’t work in Mississippi. There’s nothing to cancel.
boycott north carolina. and tell the guv to kiss my ass if you get the chance.
Good for Bruce!
I love, love, love Bruce Springsteen. I’ve walked many miles to his songs - they give you a great workout! But, honestly, his fans aren’t missing much anyway.
I paid mega bucks to see him in DC - and got the worst concert experience of my life. I could not see him without standing - at anytime during the concert. I could not hear him, because everyone was singing along. There were honestly times during the show that I could not determine what song he was singing.
However, I did get to scratch something off my bucket list!
Well we could just cancel Mississippi altogether.
