With statements like these from Spicer, Preshitident Trump is looking weak, limp and flaccid. It is time to capitalize on the airstrikes by taking on the threats posed by Assad, ISIS, Wahabbi Sunni terrorists with a surgical ground operation.

Your boss is doing a real bang-up job of precedenten there Sean. The master negotiator has a plan and everything is gonna work out.

Exactly how many bombs will make America great again, just wondering?

That reporter having to listen to Spicer may be the saddest person I’ve ever seen.

“If you’ve seen the response from the world community…they understand that the U.S. acted appropriately and in most cases there is widespread praise from around the globe for the president’s actions,” he said.

The moral. Stupid people reward action, even if it doesn’t result in anything concrete, more than quiet, deliberate achievement.

Agreed, chemical weapons are horrific! But please tell me how they are any more horrific than cluster bombs, napalm, barrel bombs, airborne gunships that can saturate a target with 7000 to 10,000 30 caliber to 50 caliber rounds per minute, and of course, thermonuclear bombs.

And honestly, are the pictures of little children torn apart & dying from chemical poisoning any more horrific than those of children torn apart by bombs, bullets, or incendiaries?

Responding to Assad by surgically striking a rather sanitized airbase makes for good press as a “proportional response” and is better than retaliatory bombing of cities. But do we really think Assad and the Russians will be moved? How soon before this escalates to the bombing of populations centers with all the accompanying “collateral damage” of men, women, children, and babies with their torn bodies strewn across the landscape.

When will we understand the hypocrisy of punishing our political and international adversaries by by brutally killing their innocent countrymen? When will we realize that the only way to discourage, and ultimately stop violent, despotic, and malevolent tyrants like Assad, Putin, Kim Jong-un, and even Trump, if he goes over the top, is to hold them personally responsible and accountable and to go after them directly either through the International Court or by other more direct means.

And by the way Spicey, when did Assad, or the Russians for that matter ever abide by long term agreements?

Via the other TPM story, there are rumors that Bannon and Priebus might soon be FOB Sidewalk. How about things happening in threes, i.e. Spicer going back to being the Easter Bunny. It is timely…

This is why mindless action movies, jam-packed with explosions and car crashes that are irrelevant to the plot, are more popular than well-written, superbly and subtly acted films with a layered and complex story line.

Most people apparently just want to blow things up.

Much as I heart Matthew Iglesias’ take, a stage left entry from him hardly counters high fives from Merkel, Fallon in the UK, Tusk and Turnball…

Spicer’s not whistling dixie on this one, more’s the pity. Trump (for the moment) has hit PR pay dirt here.

Anyone think the image of the Stormtroopers in the background is perfectly ironic?

We can all hope somewhere there’s a cruise missile with Adam Sandler’s name on it. It’s a coin flip between him and Assad.

"On Thursday, in a statement announcing the strikes, Trump said they were in the “vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.”

Cause nothing deters the spread and use of chemical weapons like giving them a heads up that you are going to bomb something, so they move all the personnel and equipment out of the way.

Shorter Spicer: Thanks, Obama!

“Stop it with the gas or we’ll spend $100M mildly inconveniencing you!!!”

I’m loving the Imperial Stormtroopers on the video monitor in the middle of this pic. Are staffers telling DJ that’s what’s happening on the ground in Syria? Or that that’s who’s attacking us? Or is DJ tired, so they sent him to bed with a favorite movie, while the thinking people try to cover for him?

Every time I think of tRump, I think of the catchphrase from Laurel & Hardy movies:
"This is another fine mess you’ve got us into."
