Rumor has it Jesuits are not fans of zombies or granny-starving.

Right. By definition, Jesuits are social justice warriors, advocates of tolerance and unafraid to speak truth to power. OF COURSE he got cashiered from the GOP Congress…

Demonstrating that the zombie-eyed granny starver is capable of decisive action, provided only that the action is meaningless.

“Speaker Ryan Ousts House Chaplain For Unknown Reasons.”

Probably caught him comforting the afflicted, feeding the hungry, caring for the poor…

Something totally crazy like that.

There should not even be a House Chaplain.

Why do we have a House Chaplain, anyway?

America Magazine reports it may have been due to a prayer for the poor. Would love it if Ryan lost everything (to go along with integrity and compassion that he lost years ago), and to have to experience first hand the horrors of poverty.

There is nothing wrong with having a person of religion supporting the Houses of Congress. It’s the same as having a chaplain in the Armed Forces. Many members of Congress are religious, with many faiths represented. The problem here is some leaders of Congress deciding that one kind of religion is better than the others and not being inclusive.

In Ryan’s original press release, the ouster was painted as a voluntary resignation; only in recent days have details fully emerged confirming that it was a firing

Can’t. Stop. Lying.

The House opens each day with an invocation? I did not know that.

Given the quality of its legislation, I’d say those prayers aren’t especially effective.

Maybe to remind these charlatans that there are people in need who might actually have their lot improved it the members would just do their jobs with integrety?

Sounds like Ryan agrees, there is only one God in his mind, and His name is GOP.

Well, in the battle for the heart and mind of Rep. Ryan, Ayn Rand won out over Jesus Christ. It was a landslide.

So let them go to the house of worship of their choice. The Congress has no religion, and should not have a chaplain.

OTOH, no legislators have been struck by lightning while at work, so maybe the prayers are having an effect.

I am sure Speaker Ryan can find a good evangelical chaplain from Liberty University who is in favor of comforting the well to do and visiting punishment on the poor and downtrodden. You know a real Christian who wants to impose his religion on you and the rest of us.

The “scuttlebuzz” on various articles I have read on the Internet about this matter say that ZEGS* fired the chaplain because he believed Rev. Conroy was too closely aligned with the political beliefs of the Democrats.
Yes, I suppose being opposed to legislation that harms the poor and thinking differing religious faiths have the same rights under the US Constitution - in other words, the actions of a true, not a FoxNews, Christian - would be more aligned with Democratic (and democratic) thinking.
