Discussion for article #236021

Ah, but this guy is a Fed., part of the Nat’l Guard. Does Utah have a state militia? Because otherwise this is all just a part of the coverup. /snark off

The story the delusional wingers will tell is they stopped it before it happened. Because that way they can feel all useful and shit.

an opportunity for them to train

Oh, OK, “training” now I understand somewhat…a Randian teahadi would find gut-wrenching echos of socialism and union organizing in that ugly word. Best let everything be a surprise and no one gets blamed…Plus, who’d want a Tatooine-esque craphole like Utah???

When the Mormon Governor is the voice of reason, we’re fucked.

Wouldn’t this be a good time to ask Texas to leave the Union peacefully before the takeover begins?

This is all a cloak and dagger operation intended to bring Utah and Texas under the authority of the United States Government and demand tribute in the form of federal taxation! I don’t give a shit what the 16th Amendment says - this isn’t a settled matter, century of Constitutional precedent or not! /s

I haven’t been following this Jade Helm shit very closely other than the over-reaction I read about here from the rightwing nutjobs. The military has been doing these exercises in the US for many years, have they not? Some I presume have been in mountainous regions, desert regions, forest regions, sea to land excursions, etc. How is this exercise any different?

I remember when the US armed forces some years back did an exercise on the Puerto Rican coast and made the locals very upset, causing them to protest vehemently.

I actually was very sympathetic to Puerto Rico’s concern about this at the time as I recall, but that had a lot to do with the shape of the exercises, the bombs and artillery used, and the long term health effects left over in their wake. Is this thing they’re doing now different?

I know the military has to practice and train somewhere. Honestly, its better they do it here than in some foreign country where the entanglements might prove more contentious.

Seems to me, in this particular case however, the rightwing fire-breathers are doing what they’ve always done…turn a practical training opportunity for our country’s military under this particular Commander in Chief, into a political thing, as one more arrow in their quiver to sow divisiveness in the country at large.

For what its worth…my two cents.

Maybe after the takeover, the BLM can then collect its delinquent grazing fees from the Bundy Bunch.

You all do realize don’t you that this photo of the general proves that this is in reality a planned invasion by North Korea? Don’t forget just how sneaky North Korea is.

My understanding is Obama wants to trade Texas to Mexico for Baja California, then he is going to import all the Jews from Israel and put them in camps in Baja. He is then going to give Israel to the Arabs. It is all part of his secret plan that was the reason he ran for President in the first place. He will have fulfilled his commitment to Allah made all those years ago when his father was in Kenya and held him up like a baby lion while standing on an rock outcrop. .

they did this in the 1940s too when the Feds took control of California. Tanks drilling for the European invasion, I believe it’s called the Gen. Patton Monument or something. It’s just off I-10 between Indio and Blythe. That sounds no different than this, so what the actual fuck Texas people?

Not before allowing safe passage out for the refugees, please.

Vieques is a pretty different situation. The Navy used it as a bombing/shelling range for decades, resulting in most of the island being a no-go area due to unexploded shells. This is a one-off event done on (it seems) mostly non-military lands, without live-fire that would leave behind duds.
